I redeemed the BACKTRACK promo code and didn't get the redeemer? Can somebody explain?

The thing is, last time we had a slingshot promo code, which gives slingshot. I already had the mech, and they gave me what the mech would be refunded for.
Why not redeemer?

Why shouldn't it? Everything g always compensates for the content that's already owned. Battle pass, skins, shop deals. Log in rewards. Why not promo codes?
