Mech Arena is loads of fun if it weren't for the lagging and the glitching

Last night at 2230 and today at 0300 (Pacific Time) I played 5v5 and CPC matches where the gameplay was so smooth that it seemed like it was running at 1.5 speed. I didn't even mind that I was occasionally matched against players whose Inventory Power were way higher than mine - scenarios like this demonstrate that skill and tactics can trump superior firepower. Now this is how Mech Arena should be, I thought.

But then came the lagging. And the glitching. Right when I'm about to finish off an opponent, or about to deploy my mech's ability. Long, frequent, and continuous to the point where it gives the other team ample opportunity to take out my mech and win the game. An occasional momentary lag or glitch is forgivable, but consecutive 60-second interruptions? Not cool.

Thanks for your comment! Indeed, we are facing some technical issues now. Be sure to update the game to the latest 3.350.01 version if you are playing on an Android device; it might help a bit. The work is in progress, stay tuned 🪛

Thanks for the advice.

The Apple iPad I use was purchased solely for Mech Arena since I was getting eyestrain from playing the game on my iPhone. Also, I got the iPad not because of brand loyalty but because the general consensus from my nerd herd is that iPads are better for gaming than Android tablets.

But my guys are not infallible, and I may not be looking at the right tech sites, so if you have good sources that'll convince me to switch to an Android tablet, I'd appreciate it.

UPD: there will be a partial fix for all the devices in the closest hotfix, so stay tuned 🙂

I've been on version 3.350.01 since its release, and it's been very difficult to play matches due to frequent game freezes. Whenever someone dashes using Surge, the game often freezes. If it's my Surge, I have to force close and reopen the game, only to return and find my mech already destroyed.

If it's a bot using Surge, it has the advantage of not needing to reload the game — it just keeps dashing until someone manages to take it down. These freezes often make matches unplayable, and more often than not, my team ends up losing. It's nearly impossible to capture control points or fight enemy mechs when stuck in a frozen state.

In Free-for-All matches, it's even worse. I often lose multiple mechs before I’m able to rejoin. While the game freezes on my end, the match continues — my mechs deploy automatically and get killed while I’m restarting the app.

You can imagine the experience in Hangar Showdown - often can't get a single point in these matches.

Oddly, some matches are completely fine, and Surge can dash without any issues. But the inconsistency makes it incredibly frustrating.

Another ongoing issue is the server ping — it's completely random. While ping doesn't vary much during a match, it jumps all over the place between matches. I’ve recorded values like 20ms, 40ms, 60ms, 80ms, 100ms, 115ms, 120ms, and even 135ms. For example, I might play the same map twice in a row: the first match has a ping of 40ms, and the second jumps to 110ms — on the same map.

FPS is just as inconsistent, varying from match to match and causing lag.

I submitted a bug ticket 10 days ago, but haven’t received any updates. Other than a vague acknowledgment that there are “some issues,” there’s been no meaningful communication — not even on Discord.

Is this post addressing what I originally wrote, or did this somehow appear in this discussion thread?

Game performance is absolute dogshit! Laggy, glitchy, buggy, movements not registering & or delayed. My device is fine, my internet is fine.. everything on my end is fine. It's this game, it's just broken.

I hear ya.

I'm sure that this is old info, but aside from closing other apps while playing, clearing storage, and keeping the battery charged, here's a few setting adjustments that helps me a bit:

- under controls, maintain camera sensitivity at 50.

- under settings, set FPS at 30; turn off shadows and bloom FX; and set graphic quality at GOOD.

When I changed into these settings the areana sportscaster's ESPN-esque voiceover disappeared. But the video quailty is good, gameplay seems to run at 1.5 speed, and lags, if any, are just momentary flickers on the screen.

Like I said, this info is new to me, and I'm new. If you've already heard of 'em, then pay me no mind. But if you haven't, try it and see if it works for you too.

Keep on playing! 🙂

Yeah I try everything.. the game can't handle the relentless greed these developers push on it. The problem isn't the game. It's the developers fault for ALL problems with this game. SP dropping originated from the developers.. after Tangu came out they had a discord event where the objective was to get kills with no pilots or weapons attached (there wasn't mods at the time) and ever since then when they showed people how to sp drop, it's just gotten out of control (or possibly part of their control). Now the game is just full of bugs, glitches and sp droppers all solely due to the developers relentless greed.

Wow, that sounds crazy. And awful.

Like I said, I'm new, and reading posts from other players like yourself gives deeper insight into the game.
