🎡 It’s time to explore the history of another Arena - Shevchenko Park! Shall we dive right in?

When Stefania Shevchenko bought Rocket World, she split it into three separate Arenas.  Shevchenko Park was her favorite part of her new acquisition, and she honored it by passing on her family’s name. There was so much history hidden in every nook. She retrofitted the old resort buggies into vintage cars. The broken neon signs were fixed and displayed in pride of place. It was important, she felt, that the past was not gutted and glossed over with shiny new toys. Rocket World had a whole story left to tell, Stefania was just writing the next chapter.

Rocket World, in its prime, was the passion project of an eclectic billionaire - Monsieur Flavadash. Tired of churning out soulless luxury hotels, he set his sights on the stars. Inspired heavily by the 1950s and 60s, he created Rocket World and revived retrofuturistic designs. As tensions between the corporations were rising and war became a terrifying possibility, escaping into a more hopeful past appealed to people. Artists were invited to design sculptures, including the large metal planet in Shevchenko Park’s center. It was fun. Warm. Welcoming.

Stefania had heard the stories of Monsieur Flavadash. He had passed decades before with no family to speak of. When she toured Rocket World, she gained a greater understanding of the man who had brought his vision to life. His lodgings were bold, but not arrogant. Dotted around were still handwritten notes he’d left for staff - reminding them of their shared goal and praising their hard work. She felt like she had a responsibility to continue his legacy. To make this place a monument to human creativity and whimsy.

The Arenas are only the first phase of developing Rocket World. Long-term, Stefania hopes that raising the profile through Mech Arena will encourage bookings. Fans have already been enquiring about tours and longer stays in the Sol Belt, which she’s taking as a promising sign. Slowly, Stefania has begun refurbishing the dilapidated rooms and has been inviting artists to put their own spin on the furnishings - imagining a future of possibility and peace. Her job now is to be a custodian of a dream, and breathe new life into it.
