Yeah, you know those charts are from far back in the mists of time, right:)

I posted the same request...no one ever remembers or has made an updated chart.....wierd.

 last upgrade we had was 8 level 5 beacons to get to level 20....starting out you need to find a partner league of the same level so you can downgrade each others fortress as a requirement to upgrade each of your fortresses. Gotta move fast as your upgrades are immediately posted in everyones league chat...provided they have those notifications turned on, and since everyone likes pvp , most do. most leagues boost the fortress upgrade with saphs rather than wait for a league to do it with resources as that is super slow. you want that bonus 25% beacon defense as soon as possible. So gotts make sure you have the saphs to do that.....And you better have enough units to stop 80K boosted dragons come to knock back your beacon because then you lose all that investment. and even though it is an unclaimed beacon it may be in the territory of another league that will take exception to you taking it and gaurantee an immediate attack as soon as you go to level 2.....most do not care if you claim for level 1 that is why you see those everywhere. When upgrading a fortress, it is a good idea to prepare first by having a lot of defense for the beacons you will need and the saphs to boost fortress upgrades.  In other words, you need to have a plan.

Ideally, you need another league to work with so you have a fort to downgrade which is part of the fortress upgrade process.   They use the saphs to boost the upgrades for this reason.  While it may take days for the upgrade to finish naturally, the fortress is only under protection for 24 hours after being downgraded.  After that, it is fair game.  If the fortress is over level 10, it is a good downgrade for the league Stormbringers badge.

If you want to set up a beacon in another league's territory, it is best to ask them first.  Some don't mind but some definitly do and will defend their territory.

one more crinkle....if you find a league to help fulfilling the downgrade another fortress requirement make sure you are not listed in the embassy as AT PEACE with each other as you then cannot attack each others fortress and must wait ...i think its 3 days, before it does the cancel and you can downgrade each other....super big pain!!!
