New hamlet defense unit

Since Hamlets are extremely easy to attack, they provide no defense assistance to units contained within, why not have a unit that boosts/ assists in the defense of the hamlet. A "Portable Stockade" could be a new unit that has a damage value to destroy it , Provides a percentage defense to the units within and can be researched and developed just like any other unit. Walls can be built around a castle, a "Unit" that helps with Hamlet defense would be useful.

Interesting suggestion. My concern is that such a unit would make hamlets even more of a taget than they already are because this unit would require some value when damaged or destroyed.

All Units in the game are balanced. It's hard to add some new ones without a proper consideration. Moreover, you can send more Defense if you want to keep the Hamlet.

And what is the cost ratio? Have you checked it? Defense is much cheaper than Offense. Moreover, you have Defensive bonuses in your Castle and Beacons.
