Good will farming and pay to win updates

Congradulations, you ruined tournaments. You fixed them initially. But then you ruined them again. This is what it feels like you've done with mech arena recently.

I would wait for people to be in the league they belong in to be speaking on the matches I was getting. I made the comment to wait on other users's posts on this forum. Then I jumped into tournaments and quickly realized something. These players were in the league they were aiming for. Or at least, they didn't appear to be aiming to get out of it or really advance in tournaments overall. For quick reference, I was started Professional 3 this time. It seems everyone was. And it's insane because it seems some high level players just decided to not give much of a shit about advancing in the tournament. Obviously the problem goes beyond matchmaking. And why are these players doing this? Because how they changed rewards and rewards scaling.

See I don't know what the hell plarium was thinking. They decided the only position it was truly worth taking in a match was first. In the first season of new tournaments rewards would scale with 100% for fist place on the winning team, and -10% for every spot beneath first. So for simply being on the winning team you got 60-100%. And then you got like a tiny fraction of the amount for being in the top 1 or 2 spots on the losing team I think 10 or 5% respectively. This was good because it incentivized team work. If you're an SP dropper and you just farm kills and don't try to win this meant you got less if you got 1st place and won half your matches you would get less than if you won all your matches and placed last on a team. It was more about winning than your placement in the team. But also if you placed high on your team but you lost (maybe your team threw maybe the other team just did better maybe they had some kind of advantage), you still got a bit of reward for that. Contrasted with the update to the new tournament which ruins that.

I don't see why now each placement below 1st on the winning team now gets you half as much rewards as the place ahead of it. You don't get any a-coins for losing anymoreso you get totally screwed  by a throwing team. They said you still get credits and fortune key, BUT YOU ONLY GET CREDITS SO THEY LIED ABOUT THE FORTUNE KEYS! Now averaging 2nd place and winning every match gets you as much as winning half your matches and placing 1st every match which also gets you more than placing 3rd and winning every match. And most people don't win every match unless they're terribly mis-ranked. Most people when their rank settles will lose half their matches. So it's optimal to place 1st every match even if you lose half of them and don't rank up anymore. This encourages the worst play style which is tanking because that's what does 1st every match even if you win half of them. And they will be fine with climbing the ranks slower and settling at a much lower rank because placing 1st in every match while losing half of them in professional 3 earns you more a-coins than placing last on your team and winning every match in grandmaster 1, even though you slashed rewards at those ranks. And compare to someone doing average in grandmaster 1 because they're average skill just max level. They'd get like a quarter of the top prize per win and win half their matches so average an 8th of the top prize. An SP cheater in expert 2 is earning more than them.

I was happy with the first season of the new tournament because you had pretty much eliminated the incentives to tank and you had incentives for people to play their best hangars and play for the benefit of the team and try and climb the ranks as fast as possible. Your changes have made it so the problems with the old tournament system have followed it to the new one. Good freaking going.

I will quote BMP in his video about the most recent changes. "You messed up bad." And I'll also echo his sentiment that I don't see why you reduced a-coins reqards for any of the ranks in tournaments while you're power creeping so much. Every new item since the rebalance aside from blizzfrost is a new top META item. And they dwarf everything else in power. Burrow beam kills faster than revoker at point blank range and has no damage dropoff and has 80 meters range and tunnels through mechs dealing damage to all enemies and has a crazy short reload time not hurt much by the second of charge up. Compound beam touches you with the charging beam and from that moment you're trapped in stasis with no buildup. Then with the EMP shot it's like a big shotgun shot that applies EMP. The charging beam has 50 meters range too so it can practically immobilize you from a further range than surges dash in a short amour of time. If you get hit by them you're practically frozen and forced to watch as your opponents approach and circle around you starting at 50 meters and then they shoot you point blank in the back and freeze you completely then alternating shots so they can do it again and again until you die. Which also won't be long as it kills most things with 2 or 3 shots. And then the mech citadel which creates a massive stasis field which also disables movement abilities and it also has its own personal shield. So you won't give brickhouse a personal shield though it's supposed to be a tank mech and peopleare begging for it you just designate it a support mech. Then you make a new support mech and give it a powerful support ability and give it a personal shield too? All of these things are freaking overpowered already and more so with modifiers.

And I just don't get why you reduced rewards for any rank in general. You should only be increasing rewards. I have seen posts of people saying they got max as f2p in 3 years. That has always seemed far too long to me. That was before you could have  3 hangars. Nowadays it can cost up to 198075 to have a max legendary hangar with 5 max legendary weapons with all legendary pilots and implants. That's just the a-coins. That's also not including everything you need to unlock in gear hub to unlock 16 energy weapons. Between events and your daily and weekly rewards and combat and victory points and getting top rank on your team in every match in grandmaster 1 with 3 weeks on 2 weeks off in tournament you can average approximately 3300 a-coins per week. Making 198075 take over 59 weeks or a year and 2 months. Then add on you could want up to 20 different builds now having 3 general purpose hangars and then hangar showdown. It could take almost 5 years. And obviously most people aren't going to come close to winning every match in grandmaster 1 so for most it'll take even longer. And most people won't even be in that rank because most of that cost comes from unlocking rank 5 mechs and weapons so any bit closer players could be to that is appreciated and once again you should only ever be increasing rewards. And without getting any rank in tournament it's going to take 3 times as long. If you're doing average in grandmaster then you're not doing much better now either. You get maybe 100 more a-coins a week than baseline not even 10% more doing average in grandmaster jfc. 1200 a-coins a week. 198075/1200 is 163 and then some. Over 3 years again that's just for the baseline 5. With the first season of new tournament they got 200 a week instead. Still not much better but still more than what they get now.

I don't see what balance they were going for by trashing the rewards like this besides the balance of their bottom line. The game was actually beginning for a large influx of a-coins into the economy. The percent scaling is worse but this still hurts. But I guess plarium wants it to make it impossible to ever break into the META as f2p. You already needed top META equipment to consistently perform at the top of the winning team in grandmaster 1 and now it's even more so. And you need that kind of income to keep up with the META because assuming you have the pilot you still need the mech and up to four implants. So that's 21900 a-coins not counting blueprints and credits and implant parts. 18-19 weeks of grinding at 1100 a week and then you release new META gear every month or so which is 4-8 weeks. 1/3 of how fast I can keep up. Meaning I need the 3x that of gm1 first in my team every match to keep up. This is far from fair. Please revert the rewards and rewards scaling to what it was. Otherwise to get it I have to pay. That makes mech arena pay to win.

I don't know if devs had a bit of a moment of competence with recent updates and shareholders got upset you weren't making as much money and you dropped your spine and made everything worse. Or you just made recent updates look good so you could burn the good will you bought with them immediately after. But I want the changes reverted to last season's rewards and rewards scaling with this season's increased rewards for grandmaster and master ranks in tournament.

We’ve been seeing our players' feedback about the Tournament Rebalance across all our community channels, and we’re listening.

Right now, we’re carefully reviewing both the data and your comments, and discussing what adjustments could make sense going forward. We’ll share updates as soon as we have clear next steps.
