what is a status effect in mech arena?

In one of the forum threads somebody mentioned that it's okay for blizzfrost's ability to affect eclipse because it's not a status effect. This got me curious. As far as I know, "status effect" isn't clearly defined in mech arena. So, questions:

  1. What is a status effect?
  2. What other kinds of effects are there?

Thanks.

(In this post I don't want to discuss specifically whether or blizzfrost's ability should affect eclipse. I only mentioned that to provide context on why I'm asking. I'm really only curious about the more general definitions the various effects in mech arena.)

a status effect is the effect that hovers over an enemy mech, like EMP, STASIS, UNBREAKING, AND DAZE

The difference here is that Blizzfrost uses physical freezing, so it's kinda a different version of the Status Effect, and that's why Eclipse can be attacked by it.

Thanks. This partly answers my question. The game distinguishes between "physical" effects and "status" effects. How does it define them? And are there other kinds of effects?

Currently, such terms are exclusive to Blizzfrost. Will see if our game designers will develop this idea further, considering the overall balance and the community feedback 😉

I have a follow-up observation. Eclipse's ability description says it cannot be affected by "debuffs". Redeemer's ability description says it removes "debuffs". Both status effects and physical effects are debuffs, so this leads to some obvious confusion. It's also unclear what it means or should mean for grounded shields such as those of Aegis or Blockhorn.

Please ask your game designers to think carefully about these and other consequences of adding a new "physical effect" category, instead of doing it arbitrarily just for the sake of introducing an Eclipse counter. Make sure you have the rules of what it means and how it differs from status effects clear.

And then please document them clearly. Thanks!

Will take this point into account, thanks 👌

Thanks. One last thing: my request to document this in the game as soon as possible is the most important, even if the mechanics themselves aren't perfectly thought out yet. I shouldn't have to point people to this forum post to introduce them to "physical" effects :-).
