Bots
Hello everyone!
I believe most of you already know that the game uses bots. Bots are AI-controlled characters designed to speed up matchmaking and maintain balance in matches. But let’s be honest — playing with bots is just plain boring!
Very often you find yourself being the only real player on your team (or even in the whole match) while the rest are all bots. Sure, sometimes you do get full-player matches, but the reality looks more like this: 9 out of 10 games are packed with bots, and only 1 is a real player-vs-player match.
Maybe for some players, bots aren’t as big a problem as the balance system, but for me — bots are the main problem, not only in Mech Arena, but in many games. For example, take World of Tanks Blitz. Even though the playerbase is much bigger there, you still encounter AI bots!
But there are exceptions. Take Paladins, for instance — a game with around 1,500 active players daily (which is very low). Even so, there are no bots! You might have to wait up to 3 minutes for a match instead of 15 seconds, but the result is worth it: 100% real players, no AI filling the gaps.
And honestly, I don’t believe that Plarium, a company with over 100 million players across all their games, can’t manage to give us a proper 5v5 match without bots in Mech Arena. Even if the active playerbase was only around 3,000 people, it would still be more than enough to create real 5v5 games. Sure, the balance might suffer a bit, but at least the matches would feel alive!
bots were disabled, here’s what would happen:
1. Matchmaking would take longer — about 3 to 4 minutes instead of 15–30 seconds.
2. The game would feel much more exciting and less dull.
3. Balance issues might become more noticeable, but that’s a fair trade for real competition.
4. Battles would become more dynamic and rewarding.
5. More new players might stick around, knowing they’ll face real opponents.
Conclusion:
Plarium, as a studio with over 100 million players and more than 10 games under its wing, can definitely provide us with fun, competitive, real 5v5 battles in Mech Arena. The game is ranked second in popularity for them, right after RAID: Shadow Legends, so the potential is clearly there.
They just have to want to do it. And even if we had to wait 3 minutes for a match — at least it would be a real fight, not a scripted battle against bots.
