Why is there such a disparity in scoring between 5v5 DM and FFA tournaments?

In Free For All tournaments, the higher your squad power, the bigger the multiplier. For example, if I'm running a 16k hanger and get 18 kills total in an FFA tournament, I get approximately 2,000 points per battle depending on various awards. If I get 18 kills in a 5v5 Deathmatch tournament round, I might get 350 points. While squad power dropping is a problem in both tournament modes, it's a bigger issue in DM 5v5 since higher squad power does not get that multiplier for having a stronger hanger. Literally every bracket, but mainly in Grandmaster, is domniated by SP droppers.

Hello! Scoring in FFA is dependent on the total damage you inflict on the opponents; the more damage a player causes, the higher the score. This does not apply in 5v5, where there is no damage-based scoring. At higher SP, opponents have much more HP, and Weapons deal more damage, hence why FFA Tournaments favor higher SP players since 20 kills in FFA at 20k SP gives a significantly higher score than the same 20 kills at 10k SP.

Thanks for the reply. So the obvious question is why would you not have damage scoring included in 5x5 tourneys? As I mentioned, this makes it even more of a problem with SP dropping in 5x5. Just like every tournament before, every day/round the leader is always a player with one OP mechs and weapons and the other 4 scrubs.

Even after all the testing and complaints, nothing has been done to combat this plague. Considering how much Plarium charges for resources like A-coins, credits and token, these people are cheating and literally stealing from everyone else playing honorably.

Hello! In a nutshell, the scoring systems are different in this way because the Battle Modes are different. Thus, they can't be measured in the same way.

Our team is aware of the tanking issue, and actually, we've made a lot of progress in this regard, starting from the time when such a kind of abuse became widespread. Still, we understand that the problem is not resolved yet, and we are actively working on the fix 🪛

CD, I think your team needs to get out in the trenches to realize the SP dropping/tanking issue is not getting better, it's getting worse.
