Hi Sligo! Please note that the Lost Gifts appear in the game for a certain time period and their amount is restricted. They are distributed across the Global Map. Many Jarls are aiming to get the Lost Gifts so that involve them in a big competition.

Apart from as above, the other thing they dont seem to mention, are the potential of previous problems encountered in the browser version of the game, where  even the ordinary invaders and ghosts  do not appear on the global map on the times indicated, so theres a good chance that by the time you might see them on this version of the game, the Specials,like gifts, may  have already  be claimed.
