Do the stronghold military researches work everywhere or only when clan members are in the stronghold area ?

Stronghold knowledge works everywhere. It doesn't matter is it military or economy, or which kingdom you are in - as long as you are clan member you get all SH benefits.

Yes the benefits from the knowledge done in the stronghold everyone in the clan gets no matter where your town is located ... the benefits of being in the actual stronghold area are the ones given for the Valley of the Aesir ...

So the V of A stuff is simply sh bonus based on sh level then?

For the V of A bonuses you have to be in the stronghold area (V of A) but the person asked not about that but about the knowledges done in the Stronghold (in the Shaman's Residence) ... they are two different things ... and yes the V of A bonuses only change depending on the stronghold level ...
