In theory you can join as many times as you like.
However, unless you are chief of the clan, you are totally reliant on the chief or elders for your place in the clan.
So if you have been expelled, or are constantly popping in and out, (unless its by some arrangement) your chances of rejoining a previous clan may be lessened.
Also you are restricted by the rules of the game.
If its an open membership, you should be automatically accepted, providing the clan isnt full.
If its closed you have to ask to join or be invited to join.

I think Plarium have made it so that if you leave a clan you have to wait 24 hours before you rejoin it.

It finally let me in. It was more like 26 hours.
