I know that attacking other castles is the name of the game but if you are in a league with not a super large number of members (but ppl you like) it is hard to get soulstones from PvP is there any way around this?

Playing more actively in multiplier pvp tournaments can help tremendously. Since you are a in smaller league, your targets should also be easier to max out compared to other bigger leagues.

One thing you all can do is find another league your size and provoke them after sending defense to the others in your league. you all will gain pvp while not loosing offense or making enemies.
Another thing you can do is look at the pvp rankings and find the member or the league ranking towards the top and all of you send defense to them and probably will gain pvp.
How beacons are now just send stoneheart infantry at beacons and if you take it your troops will defend it as well instead of maybe losing offense from not recalling fast enough.
