Hamlets Rich In Resources Have Been Sighted!

Lords and Ladies of Stormfall!

New sites can now be found all over the map of Darkshine - Hamlets!

Hamlets are small villages that craftsmen, farmers and miners call home. These hardworking citizens are gifted at their art, and bear many Resources, but seek the protection of powerful Castles against the wrath of Balur. They are read to offer some of their goods to you as tribute – so long as you can hold the Hamlet for your own, and fend off rival Lords and Ladies.

Unlike with Settlements, the number of Resources you can gather from a Hamlet depends on the overall carrying capacity of the Defensive Units you have stationed at the site.

You will need BOTH Offensive and Defensive Units to Capture a Hamlet, but the Defensive Units will NOT engage in the battle. All surviving Offensive Units will be automatically returned to your Catacombs. If you successfully “capture” the Hamlet, the Defensive Units you sent will begin gathering the Resources available there from the inhabitants, and loading their Ox Carts. The number of Resources that they can bring back to your Castle depends on their collective carrying capacity and the Resource type (Sapphires are heavier than Food, for example). Therefore, the more Units you have at the site, and the higher their carrying capacity, the more Resources you stand to gain!

If your Units are defeated at a Hamlet, and an enemy takes control of it, any surviving Units will return to your Castle with the Resources they were able to collect before the attack.

You will be able to oversee Hamlets under your control in the “Hamlets” tab at the Keep.

By Attacking or Capturing Hamlets, you can gain free Resources, Sapphires, Experience Points, Tournament Points, and/or Points for the Rankings!

Take note of the following:

-You must have built the Eagle’s Nest in your Castle in order to sight Hamlets.

-You must have a Hall of Shadows in your Castle in order to dispatch Spies to Hamlets.

-You must have built an Altar of Mara in your Castle in order to collect Amulets from Craftsman’s Hamlets. -You can only send Reinforcements to Hamlets that you currently hold.

-If you send Offensive and Defensive forces to Attack (not Capture) a Hamlet, all Units will participate in the attack. It is therefore not recommended to send Defensive forces on Attack missions.

-Initially, you can hold a maximum of 3 Hamlets at a time, as indicated by the number of Ox Carts you possess. To increase the number of Hamlets you can hold, visit the Rune Tree and upgrade "Maximum Settlements and Hamlets" to Level 30.

-You cannot send League Attacks to a Hamlet.

May Eir bring you fortune!

They should be in the lost art section near the start.

On the capture screen you can see how many ox carts you have available in the top-right of the window.

The amount of Carts is determined by the corresponding Skill in the Obelisk of Power. The Lost Art determines the speed of claiming resources, my Lord.

Thank you for the suggestions, renowned Lord! Hamlets are being found in the lands of Darkshine in accordance with another way, so I think the coordinates is te proper way of seeking for them.

In order to access the Castle of the Hamlet holder you will just need to hover over his avatar. The clickable coordinates of his Castle are going to be shown.

It looks like resources collected from hamlets don't count in league challenges. It counts only  resources collected from settlements but there are no resource settlements anymore.  And one more thing ...after collecting resources defensing units go to castle not to catacombs like attack units i send that's not nice. Same thing happen like i read in explanation if someone attack hamlet i hold surviving units goes to castle so that one who attacked hamlet can go to my castle and finish his work. Or am i wrong in something ???

I've seen the exact opposite.  My offense goes to castle and my def goes back into cata.

In my opinion, the devs have made attacking hamlets too risk free.  The auto-recall of offense allows players to fire and forget.  Most players who attack others' holdings do not have any holdings of their own.  The risk for the attacker is mainly if they forget their offense after successful attack or if the defender is online and manages to hustle an attack of their own there before the offense can be recalled.  Auto-recall takes that risk away; the exposure of the attacking troops is minimal.  The biggest risk they run is if someone hits their castle while the offense is in the open.

Just another meat grinder, so that plarium could make more money. 90% of the hamlets in my area are not occupied. It's only worth if you specialize in defense.

Actually, they're not that bad.  I don't specialize in defense.  I crank out fodder for bgs that I then kill off to win better troops back.  Since I already crank out the fodder, it really isn't that big a deal to have some of it harvesting resources for me while I wait for a bg event to come.  My losses so far have been minimal; 50 nomads total were lost to people attacking during the holiday PvP tournament, and for that loss, I got approx 15000 amulets and 200 sapphires.

Just my opinion, but here are ways to make hamlets worth it:

1) Don't send anything you can't afford to lose.  There are people who attack and/or steal hamlets just because they can.  I'd like to assume they have league PvP quest or destroy units quest, but who knows for sure?  Send archers or nomads; weaker and inexpensive defense units.  Its usually best to have them finish in an hour or less.

2) During PvP events, its wise to send fewer troops.  You finish faster and lose less when someone blindly nukes it.  As a general rule, if your troops can finish and bring it home in under 30 min, you'll often harvest enough res for it to be worth it (may be different in some neighborhoods and definitely if PvP is up and you're the only hamlet holder, your stuff will be hit...be smart and wait til there are others too so you won't be the only target).

3) You don't need to send a lot of offense to a hamlet unless your intent is to steal.  If a hamlet is showing as unoccupied, a pikeman is strong enough to take it.  If someone else does get there first and your offense loses the fight, only the offense dies; the defense comes home.  Because of this, there is no need to send more than just one offensive unit, probably a pathfinder or seeker (since they move faster) to take an unoccupied hamlet. Naturally, if your intent is to steal or if you are hoping someone gets there first so you can get PvP killing their def, then it makes sense to send more offense units.

4) Putting good def units out in hamlets, even in small quantities, makes people more likely to hit your holdings.  I think people overestimate how many points they'll get from killing paltry amounts of better defensive units like griffins, demons, and anything eldrich.  The current setup for hamlets bestows all the advantages to the attackers, so unless you have a massive defensive army and want to PvP trap blind attackers, stick to weak defensive units that you can afford to lose.

I find them only good to make us a target for high level players. Sad.

I can't figure out how to get my troops back out of the hamlet, very new to the game. the quest said to capture a hamlet foor 10 minutes, so i sent everything I had because I had no idea what it was. I did capture it, but now can't figure out how to get my troops back :|
