Dana's Trial. Dev notes
Dana’s Trail
It has long been said by both storytellers of your court and the tale-weavers of the taverns - the Goddess Dana, Mother of Nomads, carved out her own hunting path deep amidst the wilderness. Never meant for mortal feet, it was said to hold abundant treasures… and no small array of perils.
We have found it.
Dana’s Trail is a test of endurance, strength of will, and chance. Tread the path at a pace determined by both luck and skill and encounter traders, chancers, and villains attracted by the promise of riches.
Above all, focus on locating the Icons left behind by Dana and her nomadic worshippers. Legend tells that those with the most symbols of obeisance towards the Goddess will be granted access to her personal cache of jewels.
To the Trail
Move along the Trail Map by rolling Dice and land on spaces to collect Rewards, Event Resources, encounter Enemies, hit devious obstacles, and meet the weird and wonderful denizens of Darkshine’s wilderness. You can also find Fortune Paths on the Trail, upon which lie the most valuable prizes.
The Trail is split into four Regions, and while you may only move as far as the Dice allow, feel free to look ahead and spy out the route. You can, after all, complete the Trail as many times as you like while the Event is on!
Dice
Your primary instruments for movement are Dice, of which there are two types: Standard and Precision.
Get up to 30 Standard Dice per day by raiding Castles and emerging victorious from the following PvE battles:
- Hamlets
- Beacons
- Battlegrounds
- Quest Battlegrounds
- Stoneheart Battlegrounds
- League Fortresses
You may also pick them up from specific Special Offers, or even find them out on the Trail.
Rolling a Standard Die will yield a number between 1 and 6. You can then choose to move forward along the Trail by that number of spaces, or roll a Precision Die.
If you roll a Precision Die, you must choose how many spaces forward you wish to advance, from 1 to 6.
Note that you can only roll a maximum of one Standard Die and one Precision Die per turn.
Precision Dice can be found in certain Special Offers or as part of Dana’s Favor Rewards.
Event Resources
Icons
Icons are the Event Resource that determines your position in the Rankings. The more you get, the higher you climb, and if you finish the Event in one of the top spots you’ll receive a huge cache of Sapphires. Icons are obtained by landing on certain spaces along the Trail — do what you must to collect as many as you can!
Hawker’s Passes
Hawker’s Passes are used to purchase Offers at the Hawker’s Bazaar, a special shop that can be visited at any time during the Event via the “Hawker’s Bazaar” tab in the Event window. Collect Passes from the Mystic, from Chests on the Trail, and from defeated Enemies encountered along the way.
Favor Tokens
Favor Tokens are required to claim Free and Premium Rewards in Dana’s Favor. Pick up Favor Tokens from the Mystic, from Chests along the Trail, or from Enemies you defeat, and head over to the “Dana’s Favor” tab in the Event window to cash them in. Remember, if you want to claim Premium Rewards too, you will first need to unlock them by spending Sapphires.
Trail Spaces
Each space you land on as you progress along the Trail will present unique challenges and Rewards. Think carefully before moving from a space, for once you move on, you cannot go back!
Enemies
Some spaces contain enemies, forces of Balur attracted by news of riches in this newly discovered land. They come in three strengths, and so they take varying periods of time to defeat.
Dana’s Trail is a worthwhile but exhausting adventure, which means you must wait for a cooldown to elapse between attacks - or spend Die to rejuvenate yourself more quickly.
Hawker’s Offer
The Hawker himself appears on Hawker’s Offer spaces to tempt you with two potential purchases. You may only choose one for each Hawker’s Offer space you land on, but don’t forget that his Bazaar is always open while the Event is on.
The Mystic
Upon hitting a Mystic space, this mysterious individual presents you with four cards. Choose one to flip and win either a Reward, or a Mystic Multiplier.
Mystic Multipliers are single-use, and are automatically applied when you obtain the corresponding Event Resource or Reward — doubling your bounty.
Note that the Hawker's Passes and Favor Tokens Multiplier will only double Passes and Tokens you earn from defeating enemies you encounter on the Trail. They will not have any effect on Hawker's Passes and Favor Tokens you acquire from other sources such as Trail Chests.
The Rewards Multiplier will double Rewards you collect from spaces on the Trail (excluding those on the Fortune Path), and Rewards you earn from defeating enemies.
Dread Mire
Beware the Dread Mires scattered about the Trail: they will impede your progress. Either choose to cross it alone, which will take time, or bribe local swamp-dwellers with Die to enlist their help and escape immediately.
Trail Chests
What’s an adventure without treasure!? Some spaces contain Silver Chests, while others offer Gold Chests — both are worth your efforts and both require Sapphires to unlock, but Gold Chests contain a more valuable set of Rewards than Silver ones.
Fortune Path
It's not easy to get here, but it's worth it. Land on the Arch of Fortune and, on your next turn, you will be sent through the Fortune Path. The most valuable Rewards on the Trail can be found along these 6-space avenues!
Leaving the Trail
The Rewards you claim along the Trail will be added to your account automatically, but be sure to spend all your Event Resources before the Event is over, or you will lose them.
When the Event comes to a close, those adventurers at the top end of the Rankings will be rewarded with Sapphires. Remember, your position in the Rankings is determined by the number of Icons you collect.
So, get out on the Trail and discover the riches the Goddess of the Hunt has left us!
