Please explain
If more than 50% of the offense units sent on a raid die should the raid not fail?
Not a great defend but i only sent what I had in my castle at the time & basically will break even from the rewards

This is the Victory TAX
The winner of every battle on the map will suffer EXTRA losses - up to 10% extra
I have seen many battle reports where the defeated player loses exactly 50%, but the winner loses over 59% .... almost 10% Tax
The pike army was slightly stronger than the archers and won the battle - there were no other factors involved, no bonuses, no castle walls, no other reason to explain this
The combat algorithm has been nerfed
It is very easy to setup a friendly battle to test this for yourselves
Send archers to reinforce or siege an empty castle with no walls etc - then ask any friend to attack with a similar strength army
Keep a record of both army strengths (converted to infantry defense stats)
Siege mechanics 'may' affect the results but I have not really experimented with thisThe same effect happens on both raids and sieges.Jezebel said:

An attack succeeds if the defender takes more than 50% losses. It's fairly common in evenly matched battles for both sides to lose 51-60%, and in these cases the attack is considered successful. If more than 50% of the offense units sent on a raid die should the raid not fail?

Total losses don't add up to 100% all the time. From memory the more even the fight the higher the losses. It's only a few % points though, never more than about 4/5%.
50% plus 59.47% = 109.47%
almost 110% .... not 4/5%
The extra is TAX
The game would be much fairer for all if the combat algorithm gave both players similar losses in army strength at all times - but I'm sure many big hitters would not agree, tho most defenders would agree
Both players should also get identical pvp and tournament points, but attackers usually get more - tho its difficult to get any points from forts and beacons without large sacrifices on either side
Plarium want to see epic battles, so the rest of us should stay at home

Don't agree with that.
There is virtually no strategy, or opportunity for smart players to hold an advantage in the Stormfall.
One of the rare areas, is for people to work out the battle mechanics from reviewing their fights. The reward for doing that is knowing how to attack effectively and to be able to do strength tests to work out defence levels.
Far from game balance, equal losses, would be an intelligence leveller making it even easier for the dumb mega coiners.
I have been attacked by many dumb mega coiners who lose dragons against a few archers and castle walls - keep 'em coming :)
It is possible to send too many dragons and get fooled by the percentagesMy favorite "dumb mega coiner" moment was when I saw a failed raid on my castle where the attacker had sent hundreds of unsupported legendary units.djmoody said:
