Plarium Must Resolve the Frenzy Hack
While Plarium does not find itself responsible for hack of a player's email (sic account credentials), they do have an obligation to maintain a balanced environment for the game. In the Frenzy case, Plarium is said to place blame squarely on the victim of the hack, for a perceived lack of security, and yet do not reject the actions of the perpetrator. So then, is a thief not a thief, if said are not caught in the act of the theft? Of course, the criminals are what they are, and we all know that.
Plarium must realize that Frenzy was not the only victim of the attack. Those other league members who, through no fault of their own, lost considerable assets as a result of the attacks. There is no arguing the fact that certain specific players, and specific Leagues, had their overall position and status advanced as a result of the illegal attacks. That being the case, Every Other Player on the Server, has now also been victimized, for the simple reason that they were not also afforded the opportunity to advance their own positions by similar means. Other players on the server were not afforded equal protection under the rules of the game. Plarium should not allow players to profit through devious means.
I do not expect Plarium to restore all the assets that were lost. AI price must be paid for the lack of due diligence, if that be the case. Yet, justice must be done. An eye for an eye, exacted with extreme prejudice, against all offending members and leagues. It must be done to restore the environment to its intended purpose. To compensate all of those vitimized, directly or indirectly. Plarium cannot change the heart of a thief, but may dissuade the thief from stealing, for nothing but the fear of justice.
