New Divine Gear Update
On the plus side, we got new content. I am sure some people wanted new gear to work on.
On the downside.... oh hell where do we start.
If you are not buying the mooncoins and spending tens of thousands of dollars on the game, then earning mooncoins to fully upgrade gear is not a day or month task, its one measured in years. Its a TON of work, a massive effort.
We literally just got new levels on existing gear. So we have just spent all our mooncoins on that. The entire player base is going to feel cheated that you conned us into using the mooncoins on gear that is now redundant and we have to start again from scratch (on a task that takes years).
Unless you can get all the mooncoins invested in a piece of gear back when you sell it (an update frequently demanded by players and one that at one point a CM said would be implemented) then hero gear is unfair and basically unworkable.
Next, the bonuses on the new divine gear are RANDOM LOOT BOX. Random loot box shouldn't exist in any self respecting strategy game. If progress is to be determined just by luck and player skill or hard work are irrelevant then their basically isn't a game any more. We could just get in a Discord server and flip coins all day to determine "who wins".
So some ppl will do all the hard work, earn their mooncoins over months, to be rewarded by the loot fairy with a useless bonuses. And some will get lucky and get the bonuses they want/need. Not fair. Not sensible.
Yes I am sure as a revenue exercise it will be highly successful as the tiny handful of players that spend near infinite money on the game will no doubt just rebuy all the mooncoins and all the items required to get near perfect gear with the right/desired bonuses. Then they can use their riduclous advantage to continue to stomp on the rest of the game.
The other 99.99% of us will just feel completely cheated, totally frustrated and left wondering why we keep trying in this completely unbalanced nonsense.
There is a point where you sacrifice the underlying game and any semblance of skill / effort being factors in progess and ability to compete when there just isn't a game left anymore. This month's revenue spike will come at the expense of disenfranchising even more of the handful of remaining players out of the game.
You don't have to monetise in such ridiculously aggressive ways that kill the game and long term. There are loads of better ways to maximise long term profitabilty (if you want ideas more than happy to provide them).
