I actually quite like raiding, and it can provide a bit of entertainment if you don't just raid mindlessly to get the 10 or whatever raids in. I try to only raid when the split is at least 25/25/50. I probably raid about 50% non-active and 50% semi-active / active so at least there's a modicum of tension before the raid hits as you wonder whether he might be online or if a team mate has sent a few griffs as reinforcements to kill your thieves.
For me, it's one of the few areas in the game that has changed little since I started playing, with the addition of jumps it's actually improved things. Every couple of weeks if I'm bored I'll jump beside some guy and pick off his fiefs. It still amazes me how many hot-heads with do a "send all" over a few 100k resouces that they deem to be theirs because they've sieged it for a while. Plus you can get some fun letters out it.
I'll also check the stats of guys who I think have gone inactive but still have a rank and see if they move over a couple of weeks. Sure, I could just spy them to find if they have anything out, but it's fun (for me at least) to go in blind with a couple of thousand pfs to see if I've guessed correctly.
Tl;Dr; Raiding; it can be entertaining.
Wow, that actually
does sound fun, and the best pro-raiding argument I've ever read! Alas, except for knocking down stacked sieges on what I raid for resources, I am a full-blown pacifist and don't attack active castles, so this method does not apply to my style of play. Still, a nice take on a different point of view.
