It depends on the day the situation and the Battle. If you have enough offense you can overwhelm most defenses. If you have enough defense it is extremely difficult to overwhelm with Offense. Knowledge is power. Knowing what and who you are fighting allows for better tactics.

If your attcking then there is no use of defensive troops
If you are defending then there is no use of attacking troops
