When you get the point where upgrades needs sketches is it to get past that level or do you need further sketches at every level thereafter.
I'm pretty much at the point where every building is at that first point.
Is that the game done for me if I'm not willing to plough in £50 at a time to buy enough sketches to progress?
anything after level 30 requires sketches in lost arts
anything after level 20 in building requires lost arts
The only thing you really want to sketch a bit is the market for more caravans. So you can pull 100k raids. You do your raiding, right?

Then I recommend you upgrade the market to level 22, and the catacombs level 26.
With lost arts I recommend you upgrade according to use, and building preference.
pikes, archers and knight, nomads, dragons, and undead dragons are a must have though.

I'd say it's better to just upgrade the ones you use for pvp. There's not much point upgrading stuff just to load it into bgs, since the rewards from those are based on resource value and not troop power.To add to what Jez said, if you feel like upgrading buildings.

You can also use soulstones to bump up your caravans base carry by a little bit.
