The First "Father's Day"!
In the year 450 BC, a small group of men led by King Leonidas marched north with approximately 7,000 men to block the pass known as the "hot gates".
They went for their sons and daughters. So as to be free from all tyranny.
It is said that King Leonidas chose his men with one main factor-that they have sons to carry on the Spartan tradition.
History shows and tells us they fully knew of Xerxes army and the size of it.
On that day, men marched off, fully knowing they would never see their sons and daughters ever again, but secure in the knowledge that they would insure the freedom of the next generation of Spartans, and ultimately all Greeks.
To all who shoulder the weight of the mantle named "Father", you stand on the shoulders of honorable, and valiant men whose actions have 'echoed through time".
Happy Father's Day To All.
Respectfully,
Meritus
