Hello!
Each player, as well as each Coalition, chooses their own strategy of playing the game.
Some choose using the in-game purchases while others spend more time and efforts to achieve smth in the game.
If you're an active player, you can join a strong Coalition and fight with them.
I don't think that you will achieve anything just talking to these Coalitions and trying to prove they use a wrong strategy.
It's a war game and you need to demonstrate your power. It's the only thing that might work.
I just want to add one thing. Yes, this is a game that has its roots in fighting against other cities or COAs and yes, there are many different paths a player/COA can take to get ahead. But think about this: The point of video games is to have fun. Obviously, to maximize the fun its best to win. But, if you spend money week in and week out in order to win, are you really having the most possible fun?
XPThe game exists because mega-coiners are paying large sums of money to buy huge armies. There is no way to compete with that kind of advantage even if you spend every hour of every day playing the game.
Plarium will not tell you this outright because they want to give you hope. Being a moderate coiner I have figured out after 4 years that I cannot keep up. Joining a big coalition and riding on their success is the poor man's way to "feel" part of it. But you are still not immune... I lost most of my defensive units when the capital of my mega-coalition was attacked by another mega-coalition. My mega-coining teammates quickly bought back all their losses. I will need several years to recover and since I wont spend money any longer I will actually never recover. Then I don't meet the coalition minimum defense requirements anymore so I have been demoted to scholar and will probably be expelled. That is the reward for losing tens of millions for the common cause.
Becoming the top player without spending a considerable amount of time and also money is indeed unlikely to happen... but like in real life, you can set realistic goals and work to achieve them.
Several coalitions are not major coiners, yet through hard work, communication and dedication they rose to be a top 100 or 50 coalition. So it is unlikely they will become top 3 anytime soon, but they continue to grow, have fun, and challenge themselves.
Hennessy, I am with the Expendables coalition (rank 18th on Plarium.com), and we would be happy to welcome you, so you can re-build your army and contribute units when you become ready.
Thank you for the offer Lucifer... will the offer cost me my soul?
I agree with Hennessy 100%.
The very game was based on the false promise from the beginning: "free game". There were very nice games but you had to buy them.
"Free games" promises were aiming at people who easily get addicted to gambling. Those would have an excuse: the game is free, I cannot damage my wealth. And they Plarium made it impossible to compete, without spending enormous amounts of money.
That is what Plarium wants: a crowd of addicts, stealing from their own families or maybe not only families and wasting it on the Plarium purchases.
I saw that from the very beginning. Stopped buying anything since May 2015. No penny. I simply cannot pay to people who don't give a damn about me.Hennessy said:

Hennessee - Lucifer only punishes the sinners, and since you seem like a pure soul, no hell for you :-)
I agree that diplomacy is indeed an important recipe for success...At the Expendables, we do not have a minimum defense requirement. Each member contributes defense when they are ready, and then it's only an amount they can afford to lose. The only thing we require is to be active.
