Update 4.20 Highlight

Hey, everyone!

Spring has been generous thus far and is raining Raid Updates still. Even after the introduction of new Doom Tower Bosses, 4.20 has some significant additions to show off: new Dungeon Stages, a major Void Champion balance patch, AI fixes, new Champions (you’ll see the details in a few days). Check out the Highlights below to learn more.

New Dungeon Stages

This one is simple but pleasant - all Dungeons (excluding the Minotaur’s Labyrinth) and Affinity Keeps are going to get 5 extra Stages. Artifact Dungeon Bosses on new Stages will have additional Passive Skills: one will limit Turn Meter decrease, the other will limit the damage they take from attacks that scale based on the target’s MAX HP (no more than 10% of HP will be lost). With that in mind, even tried and tested strategies might need to be adjusted when you venture into the new Stages - and don’t forget that even basic enemies on new Stages will be stronger! As you’d expect, rewards will scale up as well to match a greater challenge.

So get your Champions ready, it’s time to raid the Dungeons harder than ever before!


Void Champion Rebalance

We’ve gone through our Void Champion Roster and made a number of significant changes to ensure they perform better in Battles. Most of these changes are buffs, though Skills were reworked:


Visix the Unbowed

[Flanged Mace] - Has an 80% chance to decrease the target’s Turn Meter by 15% (up from 10%) with each hit

[Sinister Allies] - Skill redesigned: No longer places a [Shield] buff on herself and will instead place a 50% [Ally Protection] buff on all allies for 2 turns

[Single Combat] - Skill redesigned: Attacks all enemies (up from 1), places a [Provoke] debuff on them for 1 Turn. Places a [Shield] buff on this Champion equal to 20% of her MAX HP


Wurlim Frostking

[Winds of Winter] - Effect added: Places a [Veil] buff on the ally with the lowest HP for 1 turn if the target resisted the [Freeze] debuff. Additionally, the duration of the [Perfect Veil] buff (if [Freeze] was applied] has been increased to 2 turns

[Frostbite Blast] - Effect added: Places a 50% [Decrease ACC] debuff alongside the 30% [Decrease C.DMG]. These debuffs cannot be resisted

[Icegrave Armor] - Cooldown decreased to 5 turns (down from 6)

[Aura] - Increases Ally DEF by 40% in Doom Tower Battles (previously increased DEF by 30% in Arena Battles)


Soulless

- Base stats changed: Base SPD increased to 97 (was 87); Base DEF increased to 1421 (was 1255);  Base ATK decreased to 848 (was 1013). 

[Wave of Despair and Reign of Terror] - Multipliers slightly decreased to fit the changes to his DEF stat


Exemplar

[High Stance - Ascended] - Effect added: If the first hit is Critical, it will increase one of the target’s Skills cooldown (chosen at random) by 2 Turns. If the target is under a [Weaken] debuff at the time, it will increase the Skill cooldown to maximum

[Pincer Attack] - Debuff chance increased to 75% (up from 50%)

[Capture] - Cooldown decreased to 4 turns (down from 5)


Rowan

[Blade Surge] - Debuff chance increased to 75% (up from 50%)


Towering Titan

[Shieldsplitter] - Damage will be based on HP

[Flailing Assault] - Damage will be based on HP. Attacks 4 times at random. Places a [Provoke] debuff on the first hit, has an additional 50% chance to place a [Provoke] debuff on subsequent hits

[Bullish Vitality] - Shield duration increased to 3 turns. When ascended, the Skill will grant this Champion an extra turn


Suwai Firstborn

[Utter Rampage] - Skill reworked: Attacks all enemies, has a 75% chance of placing a 50% [Decrease ATK] debuff. Cooldown: 4 turns. 

Skill upgrades: 

  • Level 2: Damage +10%
  • Level 3: Damage +10%
  • Level 4: Buff/Debuff Chance +10%
  • Level 5: Buff/Debuff Chance +15%
  • Level 6: Cooldown -1

[Deaden Reactions] - Cooldown decreased to 4 turns (down from 5)


Broadmaw

[Hail] - Debuff chance increased to 35% (up from 25%)

[Gift - Ascended] - Effect added. Fill the Turn Meter of all allies by 15%.

[Resurrect] - Cooldown decreased to 6 turns (down from 7)

[Aura] - Increases Ally DEF by 33% in Faction Wars Crypts


Baerdal Fellhammer

[Base Stats] - DEF increased, HP slightly decreased.

[Ensorcelled Axe] - Skill Upgrade adjusted:

  • Level 2: Damage +10%
  • Level 3: Buff/Debuff Chance +10%
  • Level 4: Buff/Debuff Chance +10%
  • Level 5: Buff/Debuff Chance +10%

[Fey Protection] - Effect added. Has a 75% chance to place a 60% [Decrease DEF] debuff if the target is already under a [Heal Reduction] debuff.


Whisper

[Charget Assault] - Effect added. Will also place a 30% [Increase C.Rate] buff on this Champion.

[Unyielding Flurry] - Cooldown decreased to 5 turns (down from 6)


AI Improvements

  • Several Champions will see changes to their behavior in Auto Battle. You can find the comprehensive list below:
  • Siphi the Lost Bride will prioritize her Whirlwind Romance Skill in Clan Boss Battles
  • Tyrant Ixlimor will prioritize his Hellfire Torrent Skill in Clan Boss Battles
  • Shatterbones will prioritize his Hail Skill in the Fire Knight Castle Dungeon
  • Scyl of the Drakes will prioritize her Wingbeat Flurry Skill when there are two or more enemies alive
  • War Mother will use her Mother's Touch Skill on Bosses the target has active [Bomb] debuffs
  • Mountain King will always prioritize targets with the [Block Damage] buff when using his Regal Force Skill
  • Warlord will no longer use his Orcish Rituals Skill in Clan Boss Battles
  • Robar will use his Wild Swing Skill even if there is only one enemy alive
  • Tayrel will prioritize his Humble Skill when fighting the Fire Knight whenever the Cloak of Fire shield is active
  • Tayrel will no longer use his Preemptive Strike Skill in Clan Boss Battles
  • Elenaril will no longer use her Combust Skill if the target has no [Poison] debuffs
  • Zavia will no longer use her Deadly Catalyst Skill if the target has no [Poison] debuffs
  • Maneater will target Skavag with his Syphon Skill when fighting in the Spider’s Den

looks good.. we'll see..

candrafon's AI on auto needs a rebalance too. whenever he gets an extra turn, he should finish off his enemies instead of using his passive. 

eg in the arena, every time I see him use "in the hunt" as an extra turn instead of killing the opponent's arbiter and finishing the battle, I want to punch trees :P

How about Zavia's nuke in arena with her A3? Also Zavia should not use her Deadly Catalyst on Fire Knight when shield is on. It just blows poisons for very low damage.

Hi, guys! Thank you for such active feedback on the post! Of course, there are still Champions that need to be tuned one way or another. The process of rebalancing Champions requires considerable calculation and extensive testing, so it takes some time, especially considering all possible combinations and numerous locations in the game. Many more Champions will get their changes, eventually.

For now, we would like to know whether we've taken the right direction. If we see that you like this update, more of a similar kind might follow.

Oh, and also, I would like to remind you, guys, that we are also preparing AI Presets feature which will allow you to customize each and every Champion's behavior according to your own vision. It is still in development, but we provide you with more information in due time

Make sure you don't break Scyl's AI in Nether Spider.

Agreed.  If Scyl uses her AOE in Nether Spider it would be a disaster.

Thanks for these toon fixes.  All Void Epics should be special...they are almost as tough to get as non-void Legos, and it is so disappointing to get a bad one. 

Rowan is now a viable CB Poisoner. 

Suwai is now a viable CB Debuffer.

I will even pull Visix & Wurlim out of the vault and put gear on them.

Thanks for a good set of Toon Reworks!

I wait Vizier fix. He uses his spread debuff skill first, when no debuffs on enemies. He should first apply his debuffs with A2 and then spread them with A3.

And still, why in clan chat is not the same shouts about clan member ascensions, upgrades, etc. as in global chat? That would be really cool to know when your clan mates are improving their champs of stuff.

Nice update, Visix and Wurlin now are playable, but i don't know if i will use soulless with this minimal changes. And where are Baron, Belanor, cruetraxa? They don't have the potential that a Void Legendary should have.
And finally, why do you modify the AI ​​of Tyrant only in clan boss? Do you know that in the Doom Tower he still does not use his Hellfire Torrent skill against the griffin for example? tyrant need priorice Hellfire Torrent skill over all other in any situation.

But everything else you have done very well imo

By capping Max HP damage to 10%, that would make the damage of a Legendary Septimus no different from a Epic Royal Guard to a Rare Coldheart to a Uncommon Armiger. Seriously?

Maybe their damage can be capped in tiers. for example:

1. Legendary Septimus capped at 30% 

2. Epic Royal Guard capped at 20% 

3. Rare Coldheart capped at 15% 

4. Uncommon Armiger capped at 10%

Yes it is good for all this balance change, but plarium forgot the most important thing...ARENA..ARENA..ARENA. When are you going resolve it. Many complaints coming through but no solution. Not everyone are whales that can 'GET STRONGER OR GET BETTER' Im 13 missions away from getting arbitor, but since the change Im stuck in gold 1 after being in gold 4 concistantly before the change. So whats up with that?

Stop giving us fusion Legos trough 2x or 10x events, we want real legos here. 

PS: Nerf Jinglehunter and Trunda, they are too strong atm.

Cardiel also would be more useful if  he did his a2 in arena. only blender wants a3 first and u can manual offense but defence id prefer a2 so just make him prio that plus he isnt a dam healer when team gets low he just wants to spam his a1 get rid of that prio altogther. Great kit but completely broken ai

You have got to be kidding me.. this is the great disturbance in the Void? 10 champions? What a crock of $#!@. You guys have to have more than this that you just didn't tell us about right? 

Especially given what you just did to Septimus, Royal Guard, Cold Heart, Armiger, Zavia, Elenaril... you nerfed those champions into the ground and made them virtually unusable in new content. And now you buff 10 mostly unheard of champions to barely mediocre and we're supposed to be excited about this?

This is yet another fail. You guys really suck at this.

I want to share some Feedback in regard to a few of the Buff Changes.

The below picture is a screenshot for the hero Visix the Unbowed.

Visix is a Defense Based Champion.

Visix has very good Base Defense 1,476

Visix has low Base Health 17,175 - I will talk about this more in a min.


A beginner might not know how to build Visix and might look at your gear recommendations.

The below picture is your Recommended Artifacts for Visix.

You are using 4 Defense Gear + 2 Health Gear.

You are using DEF% Gloves + DEF% Chest + HP% Shoes.


Players are not going to use HP% Shoes because they want Visix to have a turn.

Hero Speed determines how often a hero will move - Players will use SPEED Shoes.


Overall, It is safe to say the average player might run the following things on Visix.

- 4 Defense Gear + 2 Health Gear

- DEF% Gloves + DEF% Chest + SPD Shoes

The above gear + primary stats fit with the theme that Visix will have High Defense.


The problem comes when you look at the moves you are giving Visix!

You are giving Visix a bad move for a Defense Type hero.


[A1] - Has an 80% chance to decrease the target’s Turn Meter by 15% (up from 10%) with each hit

[A2] - Skill redesigned: No longer places a [Shield] buff on herself and will instead place a 50% [Ally Protection] buff on all allies for 2 turns

[A3] - Skill redesigned: Attacks all enemies (up from 1), places a [Provoke] debuff on them for 1 Turn. Places a [Shield] buff on this Champion equal to 20% of her MAX HP


The "Bad" Move is the A2 move (Ally Protection).

Visix will have tons of Defense, but her Health will be very low.

Visix Health will be low because her Base Health is low + people are not building her with Health.

They are building her with Defense like you have in your Gear Recommendation Artifact Tab.


Visix will do the A2 move and get instantly 1 shot from all the Shared Damage.

If you want Visix to have Ally Protection, You need a way to help her handle the Shared Damage.

You need to give her a Self 2 Turn Block Damage Buff or a Self 2 Turn Unkillable Buff


Alternatively, you could remove the Ally Protection from Visix A2 move.

Than you could make her A2 give an Increase Defense Buff or a Increase Strength Buff. 

I feel like this would be the best course of action.

Honestly, Why does Visix need Ally Protection when her base health is 17k?

The base health you given to Visix is worse than Epic hero's.


I would have to build Visix with tons of Health to prevent the Ally Protection from 1 shotting her.

I would have to build Visix with tons of Defense to mitigate the incoming Provoke Damage from A3.


Visix will be very stat hungry.

Visix would need both High Health + High Defense.

Visix would need High Accuracy for the Turn Meter Down + Decrease Speed + Provoke.

Visix would need High Speed to cycle moves.

 

- 4 Piece Resilence Gear

- 2 Piece Immortal Gear  

(Immortal Gear will be to heal back from Shared Damage + Provoke Damage)


- HP% Gloves 

- DEF% Chest 

- SPD Shoes

Flat Health Ring + HP% Substat + DEF % Substats

Flat Health Amulet + Accuracy Substat

ACC Banner + HP% Substat + DEF% Substats + SPD Substats

(Flat Health Ring + Amulet is to make up for the lack of base health you give poor Visix)
 

Honestly, look at how uncreative the above build is, It is completely lifeless.

It sucks out all the creativity in the Visix build.


You (The Game) are Abusing Visix!

Visix is going to take Share Damage.

Visix is going to take Provoke Damage.


I am forced as the player to build up Visix Raw Stats to handle all the punishment she is going to take.

Don't you think what you are doing to Visix is a tad bit to extreme?
