Windows 11 - WMI-Activity Bug - Resulting in High CPU Useage
Device:
PC
Windows 11 Pro
22H2
22621.2361
WTR (way to reproduce an issue):
Step 1: Launch Playrium Play and Start Raid Shadow Legends.
Step 2: Wait 20 minutes (default for Throttling Idle Tasks to kick in).
Step 3: Open Event Viewer --> Applications and Services --> Microsoft --> Windows --> WMI-Activity --> Operations --> New errors added every 10 seconds.
Step 4: ProcessId of event matched to PlayriumPlay.
Description:
When Playrium play gets sheduled to be throttled (default and unchangeable behaviour in Windows 11) at 20 minutes, the following errors start being produced every 10 seconds or so:
Id = {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}; ClientMachine = BRAD-PC; User = BRAD-PC\Brad; ClientProcessId = 182620; Component = Unknown; Operation = Start IWbemServices::ExecQuery - root\CIMV2 : SELECT ParentProcessId FROM Win32_Process WHERE ProcessId = 182620; ResultCode = 0x80041032; PossibleCause = Throttling Idle Tasks, refer to CIMOM regkey: ArbTaskMaxIdle
As these events are happening at an alarming rate, CPU resources for WMI-Activty skyrocket. Killing the Playrium process and RaidShadowLedgends will stop these events. Following the Reproduction steps will again result in events at or near 20 minutes.
Hope this helps!
