Dungeon drops

Plarium, for the love of all that is good and pure, please consider removing Mystery shards and XP brews from the dungeon loot table.

There is nothing more demorilising for early-game accounts than going into a dungeon and being 'rewarded' with Mystery shards and XP brews. We get enough of these through other means and there is no need for it to drop in dungeons. Gear matters in this game which is why we run dungeons in the first place.

On an unrelated note, you guys did an amazing job with Ultimate Deathknight. He's hands-down my favourite champion now. You nailed his asthetics. Hats off to ya!

This is just your imagination, loot is completely RNG, but on the bright side once you start farming higher levels 18-20 or 21-25 you'll see far less undersired loot.

Mystery shards and brews stop dropping after stage 15. Also, its not hats off to ya. its "rats off to ya".

I'm well aware of the skill's name. It's a play on words, which is why I used the original saying. 😉

But my point is, why is undesired loot dropping at lower levels in the first place?

I guess Plarium think this is necessary for progression? Theoretically an early account is in need of shards and brews. The latter have been consistently overvalued by Plarium, they're by far the least exciting reward in the game.

Not only are XP Brews not exciting rewards, they are also very inefficient to use. Sure, you can power level a champ within seconds but at great cost silver-wise.

Huh, I was surprised by this, so I did a bit of math comparing just farming campaign vs spider + brews. I assumed 20k silver per 12-3 run, and 60k per spider 24 run. They came out almost even, putting the value of a brew at a slightly negative amount of silver! My numbers are pretty rough though.

Also, I think I'm underselling the value of running spider, as its hard to quantify a high quality drop (such as a 6* leggo banner) in terms of silver. This is certaintly worth a large multiple of its selling price, probably several million with good substats.

Is it correct then to only use brews for convenience, and otherwise strictly avoid them? Is this common knowledge in the community?

You're also leveling more than 1 champ by running campaign. Silver is the most valuable resource in the game as without it you cannot upgrade gear, which is vital to progression. Sure, there are better ways to farm silver than campaign, like Spider as you said, but you're also leveling up champs faster through campaign and likely earning more silver, depending on your campaign farmer vs your Spider team ofc.

I clear Spider 20 in 50s on average while a Brutal 12-3 campaign run takes me 5s.

Yeah I accounted for 3x8650 xp per campaign run.

Brews are a very valuable resource, but should only be used during training tournament/events.

And never power level to 60, whether by brews or 12.3 brutal.  That is where inefficiency occurs.

How do you propose that champs be leveled to 60 if not through Brutal 12-3?

Yeah I get that they're a way of compressing your rewards to produce a burst in a small window of time. I was just wondering if its optimal to use your stockpiles all the way down to 0, or if they have literally negative value (like greater arcane pots, which you should *never* mix into superior ones)

Optimally in mino when u get masteries, I am lazy and gem mine usually though... 😆

So I brew my champs up to only 51 usually,  then they slowly level up in dungeons, fw, ... lol.

But seriously, the difference between 51 and 60 isn't that big a deal.  I have many champs in that range forever... if it is a champ I only use in hydra for example, I will finish off slowly in pit.

You will see when I post SS of teams (NM hydra for example), new champs like nekmo won't be 60.

Not sure how they have negative value? They have a fixed XP value.  They have a variable value of points for training depending on how they are used.

Optimally using brews would be during training in a fusion overlapping with CvC and getting extra lego book(s) or 1st prize even... or saving and getting a Krisk....

I tend to gem my masteries too. I prefer to use my energy in campaign or the gear dungeons.

In the sense that using them for xp costs silver, and you have to spend energy to get silver. Thus, (disregarding tournaments for the moment), we can express the amount of xp and silver won by a 12-3 run as a linear combination of brews and spider runs. See spreadsheet:

(sorry for geeking out on this, just killing time until fusion drops!)
