summoning dreng from fragments will be worth 500 points in a champion chase tournament, so it absolutely is in your best interest to save pulling him for one of those. khatun unfortunately will not be worth anything. you only get points for champions when they are added to your account and your inventory is considered part of your account, so moving champions from there to your collection isn't worth anything.

Will  the  next  event  be  the  same  type  as  this  one  or  does  it  rotate  to  the  Helicath  -  style  event  where  you  get  the  champion  to  fuse?  

hard to say for sure. traditionally they did tend to alternate but prior to the helicath fusion we had three fragment summons back to back, so  there's no way to be certain.

By far the most difficult part of the events is summon rush and champ chase. The more shards you can save up, the easier. Typically you'll need somewhere around 8 sacred, 30 void, or 100 ancient. Try to save those up. 

How  do  I  actually  obtain  Sacred  Shards?  The  only  ones  I've  gotten  are  from  the  Hard  Campaign  max  stars  and  from  completing  the  daily  login  for  a  month.  

They  are  very  hard  to  come  by  for  newer  players.    The  ones  you  get  from  completing  content  will  be  your  main  source.    You  can  get  one  for  Completing  all  monthly  quests.    Eventually  demon  lord  will  be  your  main  source  of    sacred  shards  and  a  lot  of  other  good  rewards  as  well.

Until you can consistently top chest NM/UNM Clan Boss (and much longer down the road, clearing Hard Doom Tower), Sacred Shards are a fairly inconsistent resource. It's still possible to plan around fusions before that, but you have to be a lot more diligent with saving shards and it often means having to open during non 2x to complete fusions. 

Early on it also meant holding onto past fragment fusions, planning out and holding onto fusions like Broadmaw, Relickeeper (and Rhazin/Drexthar) etc. to use around future fusion events. 

I cracked almost 3,000 mystery shards to get Helicath.  Its not the easy way but it works if you save them.  

While being rdy for helicath i had nothing to cover the summon rush rare , spend 60$ to complete only that part , every other one was doable with some hoarding before hand (atm of this post im only 79 days in)

Good  point.    I  opened  almost  5k  mystery  shards  to  get  my  first  fusion  champ.    Since then I've  collected every mystery shard I possibly can.

Opening massive quantities of shards is one of the tasks I really enjoy.  I guess it is the gambler in me.
