CB unkillable team problem

Greetings,

first post on forum here and i hope i don´t ask that much of a stupid question ... but (as prolly most rather new players) i wanted to advance in CB and after reading through some guides and watching some vids on YT i found the DWJ budget team where you only need a few changes to be able to use it for brutal/NM/UNM.

After some farming i managed to get the needed speed and the needed stats from the guide. My stuntarget works most of the time (stun calculator says it should work every time ...) and my champs should get the proper order with their turns according to the speed calculator. But that is not the case ...

Champ / HP / Def / Speed / worthy mention

Maneater / 36.489 / 2.255 / 241 / 3 speed set

Pain Keeper / 40.914 / 2.400 / 222 / 3 speed set

Kael / 35.174 / 1.789 / 177

Frozen Banshee / 34.624 / 2.301 / 177 / 1 perception set

Geomancer / 45.172 / 1.179 / 121 / 2 perception sets - stun target


Sometimes the boss decides to stun my Maneater instead of Geomancer and i guess that happens because of some unlucky crit or something like that. But most of the time my Pain Keeper falls out of sync when she has her 2 turns. First attack is ok but the second one goes of before the ae of the boss and not after it. So she loses here buff and at turn 16 goes down.

Any ideas why this happens and how i can do something against it? I already tried lowering her speed (214) and that worked but than something odd happened ... my Banshee suddenly had this behaviour. And with my current gear i can´t get to some of the more high end setups.

I used to run a budget unkillable with painkeeper, banshee, draco, maneater and another dps that i cant even remember (sorry its been a long time)

I am guessing this is the same set up, i initially had issues with the wrong stun target occasionally getting hit, it was bad crits as you say


I didnt eliminate it entirely but i minimised it by maximizing the difference in defence between stun target and non-stun target as high as possible

You can also reduce Maneater's HP while keeping the defense high.

Thanks for the answers but my main problem is that Pain Keeper is faster than the calculator says and causes the team to wipe because of losing her buff before the boss hits. In the calculator she attacks after the boss hits which would be the way to finally get into some decent range.

Just double checking: Did you throw sets into the calculator and check true speeds?

okay ... found the error now but i am damn sure the speed calculator showed something else before. PK speed is now to high. But the guide says from 218-222 ...

Was just about to post this. I ran the same comp at 218-222 and it felt extremely finicky at times. I ended up running a slightly different delay on PK too on UNM at A3, A2, auto rather than the usual A3, A1, A2, Auto. I also had my slowboi stun target at 111 (swapping a banner to 118-121 speed for NM , then back to 121 for Brutal when I hit it.) I'm wondering if that's causing you any issues, too.

I also wanted to ask the usual masteries questions for stun related issues too, i.e. making sure you know input has lore of steel in calc, life drinker on all but slowboi, etc.

But it seems like you figured it out. :)

PK speed is now 217 (true 216.71) but still not working ... again she attacks in the double round before the boss and loses the buff. Not even the speed calculator seems to be right ... gosh

Your post above shows her losing her buffs on Turn 6.

It isn't just Painkeeper's speed that can affect PK. Every other champ's speed "pushes" on the speeds of the team around them. For example, Maneater is too fast for Nightmare by about 0.30 speed.

So the new calc as well as the guide are wrong? Hmm ... i thought that DWJ guy was one of the "best" sources for help. Now i will have some real problems as i can´t downgrade my enchants. Or i would have to try and build for UNM but after all those failures i really have no clue what to change

You can see on the calc that this picture has different speeds than the one above. And in this picture, you can see everyone has lost their Unkillable buff at the end of Turn 7, and no one has any stun protection on the stuns at all.

I said your Maneater was too fast because the speeds that work, right from the DWJ site, are as follows:

Your Maneater is too fast at 241.27.

These fractional speeds make a HUGE difference.

Can you post all the champs in your UK team, with their gear/builds? We'll see if we can help.

Just wanted to give a quick update. After polishing my gear and doing the first 4 rounds of PK manual and turning auto on after it i got my first unkillable run on nightmare:

But i have to admit that i thought Banshee would be my top dps. But i guess i have not the best dmg stats on her gear. But getting an almost 1 key round is ... a great feeling after all that pain ^^

Frozen Banshee tends to fall off relative to other options in non Counterattack comps. 

Do you have other DPS options/what's your roster? And how're the speeds looking, now?

6 Days till Scyl which is gonna be my next lvl 60. After that i plan on upgrading Zavia and Fayne.

So, Fayne would be a nice one to have in over FroBan or Kael, but I have to ask: are you planning on going with a Helicath comp? 

You could go with a Helicath/Maneater comp like this one, since you have Helicath, Skullcrusher, Geomancer, Fayne, Maneater: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aond1PJIpdg&ab_channel=DeadwoodJedi

At the very least I'd want to get Fayne in your current team.

Just had my first UNM attempt. Guess i can already move on to 3 key UNM and no longer take a look at NM ^^

Regarding Helicath teams: he ain´t fully booked, lacks masteries and i think i will first get some "easy" tries before changing the setup again. Depending how much influence Zavia and Fayne (both unbooked - not easy to get those old paper things) will have on my dmg done i will think about changing to Helicath team.

All good, just ideas. :) 

In the end you're fairly close, even getting to a point where you can throw a toxic set on Pain Keeper, swap out Kael perhaps, few other options should get you to two key on UNM.

I have to admit that i sold as good as every piece of toxic set as i thought that would be the beginner gear for cb. like putting it on monk or so ... guess i will have to take a better look at those drops the next time ^^

You definitely don't need Toxic sets with double poisoners in right now.

I would get Fayne into the comp ASAP, so that you can have Dec Def up on the Clan Boss. This will just skyrocket your damage. 

Or, since you are looking at potentially changing comps down the road, you can remove Kael in favor of the Gravechill Killer you have built. She is an excellent partner with Frozen Banshee, and your overall comp damage should go up if you get her in there. She will place Dec Defense on CB, basically doubling your Warmaster hit damage from every champ on the team, and she will put the big poisons on CB (instead of Kael, who only puts half strength poisons sometimes).

I would start there tbh, with replacing Kael with Gravechill, and work on getting Fayne and Helicath finished.
