Some months ago, I achieved Gold I. But now I can't return. I did reach it by refreshing the list until find those who want to go down by putting a very low team in defense.

I try to reach Gold I another time, but it is like trying to survive in the moving sands. People are so active, that I'm going down because of the defense games.

I know that you are making changes soon. I'm not sure how to consider this situation.

One thing that it comes to my mind is to disable going down in level if you play at least 1 game in offensive arena. I'm not sure if it would work.

Another idea could be to change the way the game calculates an opponent team and the result team list. May be give more information or have more weight how many points do you have in the great hall. Give more information about which items have the opponent champion also. Now it is like random to win or loose having in count the points given by the opponent and the points of the composition of the team you are fighting to.
