I am saving up my gems but the price to purchase "all scrolls" is the same whether the character has zero or several (my best has 5).
If you buy the 800 gem package for a hero with some masteries already, what happens to the spare scrolls?

There are no 'spare' scolls. If a champ has zero scrolls, or all scrolls but one, the price is 800 gems to get max scrolls. No credit for the ones you already have.
