What are the mechanics behind the determination of who's on each 100 player group? It seems that after level 50 or so, suddenly "competition" becomes anything but competition. Players who score few to several thousand points hours into an event start showing up (implying far higher power accounts with teams that can clear 20s in seconds). Likewise players who can score 1-2k arena points in hours show up (these certainly are gold+ and not bronze players).

What's the logic behind pitting players who are much earlier in progression against players who are far later in progression for these tournments? Are there not enough of the latter group to properly match them against each other?
