Been playing since April. I used to be swimming on mystery shards, like 200 plus easy. Then when an event happens I burn thru them all. Now I am suddenly in the last week struggling to get enough just to meet the daily 3 summons. And this is with me purchasing from the market place.
Has anyone else noticed this or am I just unlucky?

I'm afraid you're just unlucky in this case 'cause the droprates for mystery shards weren't changed at all.
Drop rates on mystery shards are a mystery. It is unknown (at least to me) if they ever vary in relation to ongoing tournaments/events. Sometimes I get too many, sometimes few and far between. The worst thing for me is to be doing a higher level dungeon and then land a beer mug or a shard, waste of energy IMO.
I try to maintain 3 shards at all times so I can do the "summon 3" quest when the daily tasks reset. from that you can do "raise 3 levels" in the tavern.
It is also good to be able to buy a shard in the shop right away for 5000 silver but sometimes that takes me a few hours until they offer one.
I am able to buy multiple mystery shards from the market every hour, I am more concerned about ancient shards not showing up in the market at all. there used to be ancient shards in the market but now they have vanished altogether.

Ancients will come back in December. They disappear when you buy 5 in a given month.
