They do offer a pop up to let us know about maintenance. All the other games just leave you there going WTF?
Compensation is always nice.
I am no expert but if I will look on the pattern where the server crashes or having problems, it is usually the time during the start of events specially summoning events, arena reset, cb reset, where most players are logging in simultaneously, claiming rewards or summoning.
And might be the reason why they can't increase champion's vault. It is because of their server can not handle large amount of data.
They can not make arena reset, 3v3 arena reset and cb reset at the same time because of this reasons.
3v3 arena problems, it does not appear during the test server. I was there. But now they have significant large amount of players playing 3v3 compare to the test server, now problems are showing up. I will again assume that the server is having problems handling large amount of data.
These are just my theories, no actual data to back these up. Just my observation of the game.

The server crash & “maintenance” at least 6 times over the last 2 days. I find it hard to believe this is because of 2x legendary boost. Thank You for all the trash bad epic champion sacred shards opening thoughYeah, I sat in two ancient shards waiting for the 2X summon. I got one dupe epic and a trash epic. I wasn't expecting to get a legendary, but man were those epics disappointing.

And to the OP, what awful games have you been playing?
Every single mobile gacha game I've ever played gave their players compensation for maintenance downtime (and most actually give decent stuff, not just an extra CB key and some energy that you'll burn through in 10 minutes) and also had notifications of when maintenance was happening.
