Sorry, your title was a question... I was stating that your post suggested the latter.
But anyways, I just checked and I think that moving number is the max score not the hurdle. My bar is green as I am at only 1,347 so I think that means I would advance if it ended today. It says 1,347/2,847.

As I understand it you interpret the system wrong. Each week the arena ends and promotions and relegations are determined.
In order to get promoted you need a green bar currently around 1350 points. You get no rewards to being higher than the point of promotion.
This threshold changes because it is determined by 33% relegations and 33% promotions. So the score is determined by players point distribution.
The number you see that keeps changing is the amount of points number 1 has. As I understand it this is a bug or atleast not what was originally announced.Jun 24, 2020, 19:0206/24/20

I think u only move up 1 division a week? So next week 1/3 will be B2 and 2/3 B1?
And moving up the following week will be way harder.
2/9 will be B3
1/3 will be B2
4/9 will be B1

From what I have seen from content creators at each tier every week 1/3 will go down 1/3 stay and 1/3 go up.
and yes only one level, so it will be very hard to keep progressing. Someone made a spreadsheet showing that in 12 weeks 6 out of a million people will be in gold 4.

nope, it's busted. I've logged off deep green, then a few min later I come back and I'm mid-yellow. Then, 10 min later I come back to play it and I'm deep green again having not fought at all. The bar jumps DRASTICALLY in both directions without any playing. Also, I was green bar as I watched it flip over, still Bronze 1 after the week.

Same here. I was green with 1780 points as tier placement was in progress. Still Bronze 1.

I was very much in the green at the reset at 1814 points and in green was watching the count down live. Than the reset comes in wham back in Bronze 1 again.
Is this another huge bug this format is so broken, please fix.

I was a little over 1800 and my bar was green. I watched the timer tick down and reset. And I'm, still in Bronze I.
Update: I just checked and the game now has me in Bronze II.

All I know is I'm not spending any more gems chasing those prizes on a system that's broken
