Cost-Benefit Analysis of Tanking T6 CvC to win T5 PR CvC

A while back, a few of us were discussing PR CvCs and the fact that some clans tank the Regular CvC in order to get an easier matchup for the subsequent PR CvC, and I mentioned that my clan had just pivoted in that direction after at long stretch of just focusing on hititng 5.4M for the top T6 milestone and winning PRs when a relatively easy matchup came along, which happened 2-3 over the past year.

Since I have been paying attention, the T5/T6 cutoff has been around 4.6M, so I set a target of 4M Max, but it is legitimately hard to keep a late-game clan that low in CvC. We managed to stay just under 4.5M, which landed us in T5 for the last two PR CvCs, and we crushed it in both.

For reference, I have the full range of players in my clan, with at least 5-6 100% F2P players, 10-12 consistent low/mid spenders, and at least a couple of players that I would classify as whales (But probably not Krakens).  Our clan miniumum for a PR CVC is 150K, and we have some peeps that struggle to do much more than that, while we also have a solid handful that have already snagged the 500K CVC Badge, but the 5M Badge is a bad joke for anyone on my crew.

So, was it worth the effort?

On the surface, the big fat chunk of energy makes PRs look like a no-brainer, but it isn’t quite that simple, and each Clan Member’s PR Tier changes the value proposition substantially.

  1.    Current strategy is to hold to 4.5M Max in each Regular CvC and crush it in T5 for the PR CvC.  If we do that, but do not win the PR CvC, there is a significant loss of resources, most notably: 2 Lego Books, 3 Void Shards, 5 Pieces of 6* Lego Gear and some energy and clan gold.

2.    For Peeps in T6 for PRs, If they hit the max (400K), their Benefit of winning the PRs is 2300 energy, 2M Silver, 3 Ancients and a Sacred Shard at the Cost of 2 Lego Books, 3 Pieces of 6* Lego Gear and 460 Clan Gold.

3.    For Peeps in T5 for PRs, If they hit the max (350K), their Benefit of winning the PRs is 2300 energy, 1.5M Silver and 2 Ancients at the Cost of 2 Lego Books, 5 Pieces of 6* Lego Gear and 460 Clan Gold.

4.    For Peeps in T4 for PRs, If they hit the max (300K), their Benefit of winning the PRs is 1900 energy, 875K Silver and 1 Ancient at the Cost of 2 Lego Books, 5 Pieces of 6* Lego Gear and 460 Clan Gold.

5.    For Peeps in T3 for PRs, If they hit the max (250K), their Benefit of winning the PRs is 1400 energy, 625K Silver and an Ancient Shard at the Cost of 2 Lego Books, 2 Void Shards, 5 Pieces of 6* Lego Gear and 460 Clan Gold.

6.    For anyone who fails to hit the maximum milestone in their PR Rewards Tier, the costs quickly outweigh any benefits.

For anyone not in T6 for Personal Rewards, there is no Sacred Shard, so the determining factor for the majority of my clanmates should be: how do they value Lego Books and 6* Lego Gear compared to energy and silver.  I have all this info out to my clan for feedback on our Discord, but my read of the numbers is that tanking T6 CvC to win PRs in T5 is only worth it if you have a clan full of people that are going to hammer T6 PRs.  For everyone else, the Lego Book every CvC for hitting Milestone 10 in T6 is probably the better plan.

Peace

I just do whatever for cvc, if we get a decent matchup so be it.  I plan nothing around it.  The biggest advantage is using books for training tournaments.
