This looks like a new feature introduced when they added the instant upgrade ability. I purposely add a III tag to 3*, 4*, 5* champions I want to sacrifice. It makes them easily identifiable when upgrading and easy to see what has to be done. This feature is really annoying
If you go to instant rank up, in the bottom left there's a filter button. It gives you the option to enable 'sacrifice champions with tags'

Thanks or that info but I've never been in that option so can't see how I could have set it. The setting in Instant rank up shouldn't affect a standard upgrade rank option anyway. All seems ok now so I'm assuming it was just a glitch.
