How About Some Gear Variety for Tourney Rewards!

Some tournaments are aimed more at the End Game Crowd.  Examples:  Sand Devil & Tag Arena.

For the typical End Game player, Relentless has become B-Tier gear, and no longer entices any extra competiton for the gear.  Most players in these tourneys that are engaged in placement are trying to get the gems and energy, not the gear.

Plarium could easily reinvigorate the competiton by using a more desirable gear set.  A few that I would consider to be worth the effort:  Lethal, Righteous, Fortitude, & Bolster

How is relentless considered B-tier? As far as I'm aware it's still by far the best item set for most Hydra DPS champs?

Not anymore.  Ignore damage sets are the best now.  Slayer / Merciless / Lethal / Savage all better.  You just ignore so much defense it's ridiculous.

Exactly my thoughts on Damage Dealers in general and in Hydra, sepcifically.  I would take Lethal over Relentless every time.

Except for maybe an extra turn specialist like Whisper or something.

Whisper is okay because she self buffs.  That's the other issue with Relentless, you eat up a bunch of turns without buffs on yourself or burn thru those buffs faster.

Hmm. Well, tbf, the two people I have in Relentless for Hydra definitely benefit from it more than anything else - namely, Bivald for the provoking and Rathalos to cycle his passive faster.

The great thing about a game like Raid is that there are a myriad of solutions to many challenges.

Tag Tourneys offer a full set of 6S Lego Relentless, and they used to be very competitve.  In my tourney groups, 1st place has regularly gone into the high teens and often into twenties.

Even though I now consider Relentless to be B-Tier Gear, a full set of 6S Lego is still worth the effort, and these tourneys have become the best source of Relentless for my account.

However, it seems that fewer and fewer players care enough about Relentless to even bother with the grind. This is the third consecutive 3v3 tourney that I will win w/o any real competition.

Suggestion:  Throw in 6 random accessories from any one of the 9 Piece Sets and watch the competition heat back up.

I'd rather finish 4th for the gems than win.

I haven't bought extra tag tokens to compete in a LONG time.

Yes.  Exactly the point I am trying to make!!! 😀

3v3 tourneys are the only tourneys I ever try to win gear anymore.  It is Lego gear and I grind 3v3 medals almost every day, unless it is a weekend that I am trying to promote to a higher level.

In all other tourneys, I try to win gems, and there is always a fight to take the spot with the best gems because more players want the gems than the gear.  If Plarium mixed things up with better gear like I suggested above (EX: Righteous, Slayer, Lethal, Fortitude, Bolster) or, even better, accesorires from the 9-piece sets (Stoneskin, Protection, Merciless, Slayer & Supersonic), then look out....3v3 Tourneys would be on fire with competition!

I should be careful what I ask for, I might stir up so much competition that I am no longer a strong competitor 😫.

insert unintended consequences of putting P2W/pseudo P2W sets in tournaments where they can be potentially whaled out for here (also you won't be winning almost anything ever unless you're whaling/massively saving insane amounts of resources)

Well I know I wouldn't be a strong competitor in such a world, and neither would anyone not krakening out. Or perhaps anyone not saving literally everything for 6 months++ like Angwil always did. Haha

As far as the 4th place rewards being the best ones, that's something we just brought up with them and will continue to do so. :)

@harleQuinn

@dthorne04

Yeah, that worry came to me as I was finishing up the post; hence, the parting thought.

However, I'd still like to see some variety in the gear sets offered as prizes, but the top tier forge pass sets and Sintranos sets are probably a bad idea.

Rigtheous, Lethal & Fortitude might work.

I think slightly better - but not on the level of Stone/Prot accessories and maybe even Lethal could be a sweet spot in terms of sometimes people will want it, sometimes they won't and are less likely worried about the entire field trying to snipe you forever for 1st/2nd

I just had an idea!

What if, instead, tournaments had some new token currency as prizes, and there were a new shop where you could *choose* what to cash the tokens in for.

Maybe its gems. maybe glyphs, maybe a gear piece. maybe you save up a bunch tournament wins and get a book or shard.

He said relentless was top tier for DPS!!! Wow.. I can honestly say my Rathalos has been doing 2x the damage in 6x merciless set. If you betting on his passive then retaliation would help you more than relentless.. I currently don't have any champions in a full relentless set anymore. Supersonic would more than likely work much better for what you're trying to do with rathalos.
