The heal should come from his passive tho - and does until very near the end of the battle then it just stops

my guess would be that at some point, you hit a spot of bad rng (repeated crits, failure to resist, etc.) and vergis' hp got pushed down low enough that he's not healing back to >50%, so his passive stops triggering. if so, you can probably just brute-force it by rnning it until you get lucky, but you might want to consider swapping out warlord. your resist should be enough without it and a speed or hp aura should make things easier.

Thanks for the replies, I did swap out for a bloodshield ring which I should have had on from the get go - after about another 4/5 tries I cleared it so I guess it was just bad rng

Congrats!  Good luck on getting to 120! I think rotation 1 has easier secret rooms, I've only cleared them on 1 of the 3 rotations.
