Seeing a list of characters that are sorted by "rank" doesn't seem to help me. Firstly, the sort by legendary first then Epic and so on. Some "lower" characters are stronger than the higher rated ones. The power indication seems to be a better indication of how well the artifacts have been chosen and upgraded. Is there a way to sort that way, or filter > some value that I am missing?

Actually it would be helpful (for me at least) when there an Advanced Quest to fight a Team with higher power.

With a bit of circular reasoning, the short answer to that question is - you're probably using them more often.
Beyond that, there isn't a quick way, because the definition of "strong" entirely depends on the context.
Well, yes, the reasoning is sound for who you use more often. But, I've let go, as food, players that would have been great if I had outfitted them differently. I missed their potential, only to see that other players had them better suited and they were actually "strong". Using logic doesn't seem to alwayswork with this game. You are always misdirected bu the ratings. (See how newer characters are all rated 5's by other players so that you'll keep them and they will kick your grass)
Right - in that case your best bet is to consult sites like Ayumilove or Hellhades to look at their rankings. It's not perfect, but it's a decent starting point.
Power rating is absolutely *not* useful at all in this respect.
Well, rats. We spend most of our time leveling 2-stars to level 50 anyway.
Why would you level a 2star to 50?
Well, not 50, but level 5, so as to use 5 of them to upgrade a 50 to level 6
This should be added. It is a usibility failure not to. Any table can be sorted why not this one. As a player I should be able to sift through champions and gear how I like. Why even keep track of power if you can't sort by it? When gettinig new gear why not be able to sort by HP, ATK, DEF etc. to place it where it works the best.

The problem with power is that not all stats are treated equal. For some stupid reason resistance adds the most power to a player. So if you sort by power chances are you are going to get the champions with the highest resistance.
