Unless it was removed from sacred only and not ancient which make no sense  

You already got it yourself :P

Well, you can still use the ones you get from ancient shards as skillup food or rank up food, which is something you'd rather not want to do with champions you get from a sacred shard, as these are so hard to come by.

I get your overall point though.
