I keep seeing people rave about Brogni-Cadaver teams. Cadaver is just looking for a 30% shield teammate, right? So the only different between Brogni and Warlord will be the extra ~1K HP base. With a shield set and another 30% shield placed on him, Warlord should work as well as Brogni, right?

So he places a 30% shield on his A3 and then increases by 30% of whatever damage he inflicts? Is that total damage? it's an AOE. High Crit DMG and he's a HUGE bump up! No wonder Cadaver does so much damage with him. but Cadaver just got nerfed right? capping his damage at 200K? That's insane, I just started building CC for this express purpose, and I don't have Brogni yet. :( Maybe I'll just keep slowly building him until I do get Brogni.
Correct. From my knowledge, he is the only champ in the game that increases the value of existing shield buffs. You combine him with buff extenders to ensure the shield never expires, and you act fast enough to grow the shield more than the bosses damage it.
Couple of weeks ago I got CC from an ancient, I was opening all mine (about 70) as it was a get legendary get another free - I didn't get one! But I thought lock CC in case you ever get Brogni
