Tag team has always deducted for inactivity, it's done at reset every week, so its not a new thing in the pvp area.

You only have to do 1 match every 5 days.... if you aren't doing that why do you even care? Honest question.

II really like live arena, but haven't played in 2 or 3 weeks.  I guess I should check in.

Raid has been pretty consistent with regards to docking inactive folks on points for pretty much as long as I've played the game in PvP. 

So yeah, this is definitely the norm. 

i guess if they did not do this then people could climb to the top of gold/plat and as long as they dont fight anyone they wouldnt get deranked (not sure how this benefits people in live arena but ya)

fair question. Normally I do at least 5 every day, but in those days I was busy and not feeling well. I find Live arena a drag. It takes so much time and for me concentration (I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrom). So it is a one time thing, but to be 'punished' for it??

that and a demotion. you get dropped a tier automatically if you don't hit your requisite 10 fights per week.

you automatically come into the red yes ... but that is the same like not playing classic arena ... when you don't play but others keep on playing you, you decent automatically

in this case demotion would happen regardless of your ranking at the time of reset. generally a player would usually be slated for demotion anyway, as you've said, but even in the event that they aren't in the red they would still get dropped.
