More Expense

The greed continues, I am just not sure what else to call it.  They should let everyone know that this game has high price tag. I try not to complain, bot being on a fixed income there is no way to afford this game.  Nice packag came out today, but with a price tag of $60, really?  Now they want us to start farming for these oils? How long do they think these energies are going to last?  I understand why more people are leaving this game?

I'm not going to make farming for oils a priority.  I feel like this is more endgame focused.  Some of the older players who have every single champ 6* can't figure out what to do with the energy they do get.

Like I said in your other posts about greed, I play this game for free. Many people on the forum do the same. You aren't required to buy anything to advance to nearly any point in this game. It just takes time and consistency.

If you don't feel like you want to buy packs, once again I encourage you to watch the links to the Free to Play series I mentioned in your other post.

I included a starter guide to the game in your previous thread: https://plarium.com/forum/en/comment/topic_1626473/

Here's the link to the Free to Play series I strongly enourage you to watch: HellHades FtP 2022 Series

You CAN do this without spending if you ask questions, get help from people here on the forums, and don't mind going a bit slower than someone who buys a ton of packs.

Okay. Not to sound harsh but let's break down your points.

1. "They should let everyone know that this game has high price tag." - There are literally 100s of Articles, Reddit topics, YouTube videos, etc. advising people that Raid is one of the more expensive mobile games out there. In fact, there are several articles entitled WHY YOU SHOULD NOT PLAY RAID SHADOW LEGENDS. Do you expect Plarium to advise you NOT to play their game???

2. "I try not to complain but being on a fixed income there is no way to afford this game." - I'm sorry but how is this a valid point? I could just as easily say that on my income I can't afford to vacation in Fiji. Should the airlines and resorts lower their prices to accommodate me?

3. "Nice package came out today, but with a price tag of $60, really?" - No one is forcing anyone to buy any of the offered packages. There are tons of FTP players who never spend a dime and still enjoy the game. "I looked at a nice BMW M5 Compitition the other day... but with a price tag of $150,000, really??" Same sceanrio... no one is forcing me to buy a $150,000 vehicle.

4. "Now they want us to start farming for these oils?" - I'm confused. Are you complaining about the addition of new content?

The bottom line is that this is a Free to Play game. This means that the developer must have some way to make the $$ it needs to pay its employees, maintain its servers, develop new content... you know... RUN A
BUSSINESS.

They keep this game Free to Play by selling packages. In the end there is no real expense to participate in this game. Every dime spent is because the player chooses to spend it.

Oils give really small benefits, they're the cherry on top of 6* legendary, glyphed out pieces. I will be farming a little bit of oils just so I can roll the occasional piece to 1 and see its stat. I probably only have a dozen or so pieces this is worth doing for (bottom row, triple or quad substat rolls, that kind of thing)

Just tried the new dungeon, not chalenging to be fair, so worth a stab every now and again. I am a minimal spender, but make slow but steady progress. This game is known to have quite aggressive adverts, but being fair you just click them gone if you don't want to spend.

I aim to play for free.  But, I do spend on Forge Pass.  Its a great value.  And I will buy the monthly gem pack a few times per year when I get low after a big fusion.

You can play this game for free.  You just need to be patient, focused and plan your day before you start.

Good luck.

Seems to be a trend nowadays: I don't want to buy it, so no one should be able to.

There's plenty to buy if you want too.  But saying you can't afford this game is silliness.  There's absolutely nothing you need to spend to play the game.  But you can drop a fortune if you want to.  Ipspending won't make you a better player.  And not spending won't keep you from completing any content whatsoever.

Think of packs as simply ways to accelerate your progress. They aren't essential, and you can easily play without them. But if you really feel like treating yourself - or speeding through the game - then they are there as an option. They exist because there is a minority of players who buy *everything*, thus keeping the company and game afloat..

Sorry but I don't agree.  Energy is a perfect example where there is no way to earn enough to keep up with the cost of all the dungeons.  Then challenges that have specific requirements that need to be meet which I have seen take several hundred energy to complete. Then silver which can take sometimes hundreds of thousands to upgrade one weapon.  These are just a couple of examples that I have experienced and heard from other players. Sorry that is not silliness.

You're telling people who do not buy packs and can basically complete all content in the game that you must buy packs.

Personally, my near zero in game spending would disagree with your claims that packs are required. I don't buy them and never have.

Have you watched any of the Free to Play series I have linked for you?

  1. You start with 130 energy [130].
  2. You get one energy pack for fighting 5 times in arena [260].
  3. You get 50 energy for the arena advanced mission (fight with team from one faction or similar) [310].
  4. You get one energy pack for playing the game one hour, what can be done without spending energy at all (CB, Arena, Doom Tower, faction wars) [440].
  5. You get one energy pack from completing all advanced missions [570].

That are 570 free energy per day. In addition to that, you get gems as free resource from daily missions, gem mine, tournaments. You can buy energy packs for 40 gems in the shop. At some days in the week you get energy in the daily free package in the shop. And there is energy as reward in the Clanshop (sometimes), Tag Team Arena Bazar, tournaments, Doom Tower.

That is enough energy to go f2p. If you want to speed up your progress, you have to pay.

Also, you don't actually have to compete in all of the events and tournaments. I am actively avoiding some at the moment and doing other only incidentally, so as not to lose focus from my currently progress aims. Better to use my daily energy on missions I already think I need to do. :)

I'm proof you're wrong!  As are many others. You certainly can spend on this game if you wish.  But to say it's impossible to do everything without cash is patently false.  Time is much more the limiting factor.

I am not a whale, but I'm not a small spender, either. Been at it for 7-8 months. And I am not even close to the level these guys are at. I'm not saying it's easy to play for free, but if you think you can buy your way into end game, you are mistaken....it can make the grind easier, but you can't escape it.

If for no other reason, because of gear. There is no way around farming gear, the gear packs are a joke, shard summon rates are a joke, soul drop rates are a joke. You'll pay a lot of money just to gamble...and house always wins in this casino. Will it speed up your progress? Sure. Will it make a drastic difference? Nah. Like I said, 7-8 months of spending doesn't even get you close to 3 years f2p.

And I know what it's like...."Oh, if I just had this pack, I would grind me some silver"....you never have enough silver, you never have enough gear, you never have enough energy. The game will be a tedious grind no matter what you do. It's just how the game is. Embrace it, learn it, and you can dominate it for free. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

As has been stated, this forum is full of people who are either low spend or just full blown don't spend money on the game, and their advice is sound.

Time is a factor, so try to be patient, do what you can in terms of completing content. Not everything is meant to be done at once, and frankly it would be quite boring if the game were that quick to complete.

This is a resource management game, first and foremost. That includes your time. So, deciding where you want to spend your in game resources and time everytime you log-in is of importance. This really never ends, as the further you go into the game you still end up needing to decide where to devote your energy every day. Sometimes this means trying to get better accessories in Spider and sometimes that means finishing masteries in Minotaur. I never really try to do too much at once because it just leads to worse results and feeling like I haven't gotten a thing done in the game.

Picking and choosing what we areas of the game want to invest into based on progressing and refining our champs, teams and account and staying focused is the way we should go, I think. Ends up being more fun, significantly less frustrating.
