my personal opnion...nope (Armiger is the only one and you mentioned him)

There's quite a bit out there in terms of content on Shieldguard but I really don't think he's worth investing in. 

Armiger really is the only one that holds value long term out of all the uncommons, though Outlaw Monk can have some slight viability early if you need a CB poisoner desperately. 

So, the "content" recommending to build stuff like shield guard or even sister militant to rank 6... that's just clickbait nonsense. Uncommons, and even the vast majority of rares, are not worth building.

I'm wondering about Armiger too. I made it all the way to Visix without ranking mine to 6. Now I have better TM control and better max hp damage (royal guard, husk, 2x coldheart). And an uncommon is just so fragile, specially when you have to build them to 100% crit. Does armiger have some late-game uses I'm missing?

I'll keep Dervish back just to pass a basic challenge using Heal block, as I don't - yet! - have another champion who can do that. Otherwise, will prepare them for food. :)

Sister Militant was useful to me for crowd control in early game.  I still use Armiger on occassion.  Its a good idea to keep one of each.  

Armiger is definitely end game viable, I use him in my Dragon 25 team in Reflex set. 

Viable I know, but I wonder if he's necessary. If I don't already have him at 60, do I even bother?

IDK, I wouldn't call any champion necessary. "Useful" would be the word I would use. For instance, if you have Teo that can solo it in like 30-40 seconds, then you do not need him. I don't have Teo, or any other champ that can be slotted in his place to make it faster. Other than Dragon, I don't use him anywhere else. 

Armiger is "viable" in many end game areas.  Interestingly, dragon is not one I would have included on my list.  DT bosses, Spider, Fire Knight would have been on my list for sure.  I'd imagine some still use in IG as well.

I built Visix with high priority as soon as I got here and wow, she is good. Got past dark fae 40h for the first time this rotation.

Spending resources on uncommen and rare champs that are able to do end game content is the best deal you can make, especially for ftp.

Visix chance to reduce tm is 80% unbooked. To bring that chance to 100%, you have to spend legendary books, the rarest resource in the game.

To bring Armiger to full power, you just need to buy some copies of him from the market or open some green shards.

I agree, but Visix's full power is considerably higher than armiger's. I am careful with books, and decided to fully book her anyways. Shaved 2 minutes off my FK25 times (6 to 4 minutes), allowed me to progress in DT, etc.

Another consideration for ftp is that you need to make good long-term investments, and have the patience to hold back on things that fall off in power going into late game.
