Buff vs debuff calculation question

How are buffs vs debuffs calculated? As in, a enemy has a +25% attack, then I cast a -50% attack, is the buff added first  then the debuff, or do they cancel each other out to equal a strait -25% after. In the global chat I was told it's the same either way, but they didn't understand.

Let use round numbers

Base atk of 1000

+25%=1250

-50%=625 atk

The other way is.

Base atk 1000

+25%-50%=-25%=500atk

This is a large difference in bigger scales.

Or if it's the other way, enemies cast +50% to my -25%. So does anyone know just how they calculate this?

You put too much thought into it.

Remember one simple fact. If the buff enemy cast is based on base attack. Your debuff will also based on that enemy’s base attack. So it cancel out.
