Advantage of Legendaries vs Upgraded Ranks

Since it seems we can upgrade the rank of any champions, what advantage do the legendaries have over them?  Are legendaries still more powerful even when other champions are upgraded to the same max rank?  Or can legendaries somehow be upgraded higher than other champions that start at lower ranks?

I don't have any but i suspect the first advantage is better base stats than epics which generally have better base stats than rares.

There are plenty of epic and rare champions that are better to use than certain legendaries. Legendaries are just extremely difficult to get, and some of them are beasts. Don't focus too much on the rarity of the champions, but rather what they can do individually.

yes, the legendaries have better base stats, but it's true that the diference is not that big, especialy when you get stats from multiple things (gear, mastery, accesories, great hall, arena bonus)

i think the main thing though is tha fact that most legendaries have better skills and their combinations + the multipliers, cooldowns, ... sure, there are epics and rares that are useful and some of them are on same level (some even better) as legendary, but overall, legendary units are just better

Everything can be upgraded to Rank 6 and everything except Commons can be Ascended up to their rank.

Legendaries have a base Rank of 5 and generally better stats and more powerful skills but are harder to Ascend and Improve the Skills above Base then Epics or Rares. Some of them also have a higher number of really useful skills then Epics or Rares.

Epics have a Base Rank of 4 and usually better stats and skills but are also harder to Ascend and Gain Skill Ups then Rares. They typically have one or two good skills and more powerful Auras those of Rares.

Rares have a Base Rank of 3 and will usually be the bulk of your useable champions because their skills and ascension are much easier to improve then Epics or Rares.

However they are much more likely to only have 1 Really Good Skill with some okay other options then Champions of Higher Rarity which tend to have at least two good things

Legendary have better stats and skill. But rare hero have slighty advantage for ascend and upgrading skill. Skill book for legendary is very rare and not easy to get. I play this game over 2 months and succesfully upgrading 2 rare champion' skill to max. But for legendary still need long way to go.

Thanks for all the feedback.  So basically, I could take a 1-star champion that looks cheesy, like Novitiate, and upgrade him all the way up to a 5-star, and there is a possibility at that point, his ability in battles could be comparable to a legendary?

I would imagine some people, just for their own amusement, take some of those cheesy-looking ones and make them ridiculously powerful through upgrading then, eh?

For beginning 1-2 star champion may still useful. But for long-term they will become less effective. For later game we only use it for a food to upgrading others hero to higher rank. You better focusing on 3 star champion.

No. 1-2 star champion can't comparable with a legendary. Even after you upgrading these 1-2 star champion to 5 star they still weak and no where close to legendary. Legendary is superior because they have better stats and skill.

As several people have stated here, Epics and Legendary start at a higher rank (more stars) with higher base stats but are significantly harder to acquire and much harder to ascend due to the higher tier potions required even at ascension one. They have tend to have skills that feature the stronger versions of buffs and debuffs though that is not always the case. They have tend to have stronger auras. That said, their status alone does not mean they are better outright. Out of the ten Epics I have received I only use three. Two of which are guaranteed; Jizoh and Relic Keeper, and Alure. Rare champions such as Athel, Kael and Apothecary can be on par or better than champions of a higher status due to their the strength of their skills and the synergy they can possess. I am currently nearly gold two with three rares and one epic without having dropped more than eight US dollars and none of the money spent earned me anything I have kept or used, unless you count gems for energy and silver. :P

Thanks again for all the information.  After upgrading multiple champions to use as food for others, I see now what you were all talking about as far as the skills and how even when upgrading champions, they don't ever acquire any new ones.

Interesting though how some skills are extremely useful, while some are so situational that it makes some champions impractical 90% of the time.

How are we able to avoid champions becoming locked, is there a formula that I can use to know which lower champions I need to use in order to upgrade a higher level to level 6?

IDK if this is helpful or if u already know...

You can feed any champion to any champion for XP.

For Rank Up, you can only feed a champ with other champs of the same rank, or you can use chickens.

For skill up, you can either use a skill tomb or a duplicate champion. (If I had 2 Jizohs, I could use 1 Jizoh to skill up the other Jizoh)

Not sure if this helps, but if you go into your Champions window and click on an individual champion, then in the left bottom area there is a little lock icon. Tap the icon to lock or unlock your champions. Unlock your champions if you want to use them as food, but lock the champs you want to keep so you don't use them by accident.
