Click "Edit" and then it should be quite straightforward.

Once you "apply" your changes, you lose one cane. Notice that you don't get your time back, i.e., if you remove a pearl from something and then want to reapply it, it will take the same amount of time as it took the first time.

No. "Rearranging" is a misleading term. The cane only allows you to remove them (i.e., they are no longer applied and are returned to your stash of pearls). Then you can apply them just as you did the first time.

In other words, if you have - say - 5 pearls applied to Bonnies' travel speed and none on their training speed, and you want to reverse that (have 5 applied to training, and none to travel), you need to:

1. click "Edit" in Witch Doctor's Hut,
2. click the minus sign next to Bonnies' travel speed five times to get that down to zero pearls,
3. click "Apply" (or whatever it's called),
4. apply 5 newly obtained pearls to Bonnies' training speed, each taking its usual amount of time to be applied.

Feel free to play with it. If you're not happy with the changes, you can close Witch Doctor's Hut without clicking the "Apply" button and the changes won't come into effect (and no canes will be lost).

The requirements still need to be respected. For example, Schooners' training requires 10 pearls on Group IV and 8 pearls on Luggers' training. You can't reduce those two below said limits until Schooners' training is down to zero.

I see that -- am doing the upgrade of Group IV now.
