You need to claim them from the Smugglers' Den, under Resources tab, Etchings sub-tab. And yes, I know it makes no sense to have to claim them, but that's how it is. ;-)
That's interesting, and I agree...makes no sense, but an easy solution.

Gears are different. They are stored in the WH and are therefore limited by the WH capacity, so having them stashed in Smugglers' Den (under Misc > Special, if anyone's wondering) makes sense in terms of avoiding overflowing.
And if they ever made ruby-only items, like etchings, raidable... that would be really bad for us and for Plarium, as I'm pretty sure it would've significantly hurt the sales of these items.
