My haven in the last hour went from +1800 odd rum consumption per hour to -4880 per hour.
This was in a blink of an eye and I had done nothing in terms of buying new troops or winning some extra ones.
I have rebooted twice./ Logged on and off .
Did your prestige or some rum production/consumption item run out?
If not, please specify which platform (Plarium/FB) and server (The Pirate Bay/The Golden Coast/Sirens' Strait) you're playing on, and at which coordinates. Also include the date and time when this happened, as precise as you possibly can (don't forget to include the time zone).
Crowbar is correct it does sound like either your prestige expired, or you rum production and/or rum consumption expired.
