The unwinnable chase

i

So I had to call it short yesterday and actually see how far ahead first place would land. At 12:00am (+8 time) the user in first position wasn't even on the list.

Taking this score into consideration there are a few things to highlight:
-if we assume every round was good (with a minimum score of 250) that's roughly 90-100 games straight.
-if each game was only 2 matches with no over time, that is a solid 6 and a half hours of gaming.

Straight up, I can't compete with that and won't waste my time trying to get anywhere close to those number.

With limited points in TDM or Capture, I will probably be playing this significantly less now. Which absolute sucks because I'm really enjoying this game, but there is no way I'm going to legitimately waste my time chasing an unachievable target.

Mate, drill down into his hanger. Check to see if he actually has the rank to score. Compare it to the maximum damage to see if he is a cheat. I was in your situation and it turned out the player who won was cheating. I never got any compensation so it was pointless any way. To be honest, tournaments are not worth the time and effort.

6 hours a day playing is pretty intense.  Not saying there are not people out there who would do that but I would do what PSammut01 stated and check the guys hanger.

Could it happen....sure, it's just really unlikely and in part unlucky if you get someone like that in your bracket.

Check his hanger and let us know.

(anyone else have an issue with double inputs when trying to post from a mobile device?)

This happened last Tournament too and the problem I have with checking details are:
1) not my job - There really should be something in place that checks game time against points or something similar. If I start scrutinising each winner with bulk points, where does it stop?
2) there is no pay off for me pretending to be a mod for a game that is trying it's best to coax money out of me without giving me a balanced and fair game to begin with.

What I think it comes down to is the ability of the Devs in creating a balanced system. This game has been out for over a year and looking through patch notes, a few things have been altered but there hasn't been any significant benefits to any changes made. It's just made things 'different'.

I have reported so many players in the last 2 weeks for absolutely legitimate reasons (wire frame hacks, one shot beams, infinite ammo ect.) and as far as I can work out, the players are also their own umpires in this game.

I want to love this game, I really do. But the chat function is trash and unmonitored (multiple languages in English servers, soliciting minors, buying/selling a-coin...), The matchmaking is a bot filled unbalanced mess, and the purchases compared to working for the weapons are literal months of work apart.

Surely the framework for a good game can be seen here. It just needs an entire redux from the ground up. I'm a marketing exec for one of Australia's largest media companies... It's my job to break things down for clients so they can maximise their potential profits and this would be a brilliant opportunity for the Devs to reach out and get some quantitative and qualitative research results.

There has to be something we (the players) can do to increase the quality of gameplay beyond blind reporting and micromanaging potential cheat accounts.

I just came here to complain about the same problem.

100 matches in 2 rounds would eventually take at least 8-9 hours of gaming with the initial 30 seconds of waiting and reviewing the results.

Theoretically this is doable even with pauses because one heat lasts 24 hours.

So if you have the time or several players taking turns in front of the device and enough A-coins to buy tickets there is nothing that could stop you of winning the heat.

The problem is that average people like you and me don't have 10h to sit and play just for winning a tournament heat. With the current rules the winner is not the best player with the strongest mech and weapons and/or the best strategy but the player with most free time.

Maybe it will be fairer to have a limit on how many matches a player can participate in 1 heat. This will bring the best players on the top positions and not the ones with enough free time.

Then we (players) can be more precise when pointing out potential cheaters with results that look to good to be true.

Gonna be honest,

Probably cheating,

No REASONALABLE person would ever put that much effort into earning utterly meaningless prizes.

They are 7000 points over the second place,

Provided every single game they played was a winning one, even IF they were earning 300 points a match,

Thats still 23-24 Golden tourny tickets over what they REALLY needed to win.

That, coupled with the sheer amount of time needed to get the required points means they play Mech Arena as a day job.

I haven't participated in this week's tournament and my time on this game has dropped from 3-5 hours a day to only a handful of games.

I can't be the only person that has done, or is doing this. Client retention for these games is vital to it's longevity, but there doesn't seem to be any incentives or game modes that actively try to retain players.

With that, once players have obtained the maximum number of free tickets, something else should be used as compensation. Maybe 500 credits per ticket? Anything would be better than collecting items from crates that are 100% useless.

Yesterday was a busy day.

After several matches fighting for 1st plase in the last hour of the ending heat, I've won with 3400 points and took a break.

At some point of the day I went to play control point clash for points and crates. Then I've started the next heat of the tournament.

We were fighting neck and neck with 2 other players. After more than 2 hours of playing and using gold tickets I was at 3300 points and the competitors were at 3200 and 3000 respectively. My gaming time for the day was over. I saw other players also went offline.

Now I am waking up to see that I'm 4th in the heat with my 3300 points. The guy who was chasing me has 6000 and the 2nd and 3rd have 5000 and 4900 respectively.

That guy on 2nd place is 4th division with less than half of my the experience and squad power of around 1000. No fancy mechs or weapons.

I don't think any of them was cheating. They just had the time to play.

So please Plarium, do something about this aspect of the game! I know gaming time is important for you as authors, but people that have other things to do except playing have no chance to be competitive in tournaments.

I was very pleased when I saw the message saying I can't win any new points from conrol clash for today. I was thinking - well the authors have tought about the real people, they should not play all day long.... now I see that I was wrong.
